The staff were welcoming and the service good and pleasant with the exception of the bar staff. We went to the bar for a drink after arriving early and were ignored for about ten minutes. Really spoiled the start of a pleasant evening

Very disappointing experience at 20 stories. There was some issue with the booking where the fork confirmation hadn’t come through on their system, and despite showing them the confirmation email, they argued and got really huffy with me - they never once apologized (clearly a system error on their behalf) and had a dreadful attitude. It was a Sunday night and half empty and they told us we would have to wait an hour for a table. We sat on the terrace only to be told no table service on the terrace, and then waited 15 minutes for cocktails made by a trainee barman, whose supervisor made him repeat the cocktails. Even after that, the cocktails were awful. Just really disappointing when I had heard good things about the place.

The location and views are unquestionably fantastic but the food is average - do not expect fine cuisine. The different spaces available; in the restaurant, the bar, the terrace, all make for 'potentially' a memorable experience. If we went again we would do so prewarned that the time they allow you for the table can be precisely that, regardless of how slow they are in serving; and in that respect the service was poor - we waited more than 45 minutes between starter and main, which wasn't a problem for us until they then told us we didn't have time for dessert and had to pay up and move, something I have never before experienced in any restaurant before. We instead retired to the bar for coffee, where we were then offered a free dessert 'to compensate', which we declined, We then had drinks on the terrace before leaving. A perfect evening was therefore spoilt; easily rectified if the restaurant had taken our order at the bar (we were there early for pre dinner drinks): and if then they had proactively served us coffee and dessert on the terrace. That way we would have enjoyed all the restaurant had to offer. Instead, we have ticked off 20 Stories but there are so many better restaurants in central Manchester to choose from, we will not return.

The service was amazing and the food was great the starters were delightful, my girlfriend had the chicken main and I had a cauliflower steak was disappointed with mine as wasn’t a normal thing I would go for but if it was for me I would recommend too anyone too at least try it once much prefer a nice beef steak

Lovely place. A real gem. Had a drink in the outside bar before being shown to our table. Staff very attentive. Wine topped up without prompting. Food delivered quickly and very tasty. Would recommend and visit again

Venue was lovely, service good. Meal - we ordered the porterhouse for 2 (most expensive steak on menu). It was cold, they took it back (it was medium by the way) and came back colder… Drink, was ok - prosecco but fantastic. Service was good! Good attention to low glasses etc.

20 stories has changed from a top class restaurant to a bar with blaring music and a few tables. The focus on providing top quality food has been lost. The vegetarian choices were very poor and I had to send mine back as it was undercooked. As a result I had nothing to eat apart from some bread! You pay for the views only.

Would definitely return, but be warned, despite the price 'guide' on this website you will need a remortgage to dine here. Food was beyond doubt the best we'd had in a long time. We had the sourdough, and seared scallops to start. For mains I had venison steak and my husband had pan fried duck. Dessert was a marathon bar, and pear delice. The meats were just melt in the mouth, and I've never tasted scallops that were dreamy and not rubbery before! So a 3 course meal for lunch, with a glass of wine, cocktail and coffee each came to £200. Staff could not have been more attentive. We were seated right in the middle of the room next to a serving station and the staff moved us without quibble. Excellent service. When booking it's worth asking for a table near the window to enjoy any views. There are spots out on the terrace under an 'eden project' style dome and in green houses but we didn't get the opportunity to wander outside to view these due to time.

The service was exceptional considering how busy it was we didn’t feel neglected at all. Ioanna served us she just made the dining experience extra special. Very friendly and smiley. The drinks were lovely. The food was just perfection. So beautifully presented and it tasted wonderful. Can’t fault anything. Thank you

Menu a bit pricey but food was good quality and atmosphere good, seemed a younger crowd drinking at bar area and mixed age’s dining. Would go again
