What can we say, it was the best possible introduction to Genovese cuisine. Typical regional dishes made and served by people who obviously take great pride in showing the best there is to offer. We really couldn't ask for more, with fresh pesto, wild boar, dried cod and fried anchovies all cooked to perfection. The space is intimate, and outside is a lively and fun corner without being overwhelming. Claudio and Cristina are wonderful hosts and made us feel incredibly welcome with their warmth and humour. We've been to many places across Italy, from Venice to Naples to Rome to Bologna, and agreed dinner at A Toa de Zena ranked among the best Italian meals we've had...

It is a very small and simple restaurant in the old town of Genoa. The owners did everything they could to make my visit/meal enjoyable (including explaining everything in English), and regularly politely checking that everything was ok for me - it was! And the freshly made panna cotta was the best I've ever tasted!

This was by far our best dining experience in Genova. The ownera are a lovely couple, the food is to die for and everything is made right at the moment. Wine is also superb and our whole experience was amazing! Grazie mille, torneremo presto!

Family restaurant, authentic local dishes. Friendly service (English-speaking as well), good food, local typical Genovese dishes. All home-made. Very reaasonable prices (per person, entree + main dish + dessert a la car = 25 EUR, + 16 EUR for bottle of nice wine). I only wish we were in Genoa longer and could repeat this experience. I had a look at the kitchen and it was very clean. Only a few minutes walk from the Porta Soprana, right at the Old Town of Genoa.
