For a five star hotel and the price, the afternoon tea was a little disappointing. The bread had started to become dry and scones should never be put in the microwave to heat them up.

Service wasn't great, noone really looking after us or knowing why we were there even though we clearly said afternoon tea (disappointing as we were there for a birthday afternoon tea). Given some standard tea bag tea on arrival, and had to call the waitor over to order the afternoon tea loose leaf tea. Bread on the sandwiches was a little hard on the outside - didn't seem freshly prepared.

Gorgeous hotel lucky on a sunny afternoon we were offered to have afternoon tea at the garden area. Would prefer to have better selection of cakes however it was delightful.

Beautiful surroundings and the staff were super helpful. We really switched off and enjoyed. The food was great and there was a menu to chose your tea too which was a nice touch. Definitely would recommend and go back.

So had afternoon tea here this afternoon but was a bit disappointed. The bread was just white/granary sliced with crusts cut off..thin sliced packet ham,nothing fancy….the 4 small cakes were out of a packet again nothing fancy. Had to wait 40 minutes for it to come too. Another couple turned up 20 mins after us and got theirs before us! Definitely not worth £30 each! Compared to other places it really wasn’t good. Would upload pic but no option too.

Know this hotel and enjoyed previously. Tea was served in linking conservatory and felt like a corridor. Staff constantly up & down with trollies, chairs clearing up from lunch time do. Food disappointing, though staff friendly. Will be looking for new place to take disabled mother for a treat.

Lovely afternoon tea that catered for gluten free. Our waitress was really attentive and kept refilling and tea pot. The afternoon tea was lovely and even though I had the gluten free as well you wouldn't have known as the sandwich fingers, pastries and scones were amazing. Great service and a lovely view at this spa hotel.

Very disappointed, it was a treat for a special birthday. We were not served our afternoon tea until 35 mins after booked time, had to remind staff for more tea, it seemed liked we had been forgotten. Quality of food was good but I think the price is expensive for what you get.

We dined along the corridor overlooking the front terrace and fountain area so lovely to look out on as the restaurant was closed that we had pre-booked in....The staff were very friendly and attentive on booking in and all through the afternoon tea service so made my birthday afternoon tea extra special. Lovely warm scones and tasty cakes and good selection of tasty sandwiches.

The sandwiches were particularly good, and the scones and cakes very nice. Might have expected slightly more exciting cakes for the money and level of hotel, but as a standard afternoon tea I couldn't complain. The service was excellent and the staff lovely. I couldn't really judge the ambience to be honest, as it was a Monday in February, so we were the only ones in there! It's a very grand room though, so I'm sure when it's full it has a good atmoshphere.

The staff were wonderful as was the tea, Champagne and cakes. However after that it went a bit down hill We were seated in what was effectively a corridor and felt very impersonal. There was little to no atmosphere and it was strange having people sitting in their robes having tea. If we were in a cosy room that would have been fine, but to be in quite a formal space with people walking past to and from their rooms, felt very strange and a little unnecessary given the size of the building and how many rooms there are on the ground floor that are set up for food. Sadly, the sandwiches too were very underwhelming. The bread was really quite dry and the filling a little lacklustre. I also have a real pet peeve for thick lashings of butter that are otherwise totally unnecessary which is very much the case for a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich. I struggle to be able to justify the price when the champagne afternoon tea at the Ivy is £10 cheaper and a better experience all round. Again, this is nothing against the serving staff who were really welcoming, warm, attentive and friendly.

While the location was lovely and the food nice the service was lacking. No one talked through the dishes, we weren't offered milk for our tea, we weren't checked on or asked if we wanted tea refreshed and service was slow. Wouldn't recommend.

Food was 40 mins late. The sandwiches where stale. The scones where nice and warm. And the cakes where ok but the service could have been better with at least someone telling us that the food was going to be late
