For a charge of GBP 50 per head I would expect the tea set to be a bit delicate . Turn out the sandwiches and cakes were straight from fridge , the taste was very indistinctive , the bread was not of the same high quality as the bread they usually serve for lunch / dinner at Capital Hotel . The scones were hot and fine. The service was disappointing . There was one waiter serving altogether 3 tables of 6 customers in total . Had to ask twice to get milk for our tea . This afternoon tea experience has changed my pSt good impression on Capital Hotel completely.

Thank you for your great service!! All the plates are really delicious and very beautiful. They are not so sweet that they taste well even for Japanese people. The staffs are very kind and very friendly. We had a lot of fun.

Enjoyed our afternoon tea, sandwiches were delicious, scones tasted good but were slightly overcooked. Cakes were ok. Service was very good and the room setting, lighting and decor was pretty and cosy.

Nice Hotel. The dining room was a bit simple. The pictures are either made on another location or very much edited. The food was total okay. But not more. For £120 for 2 persons either too expensive or not good enough. Service was kind but a bit clumsy. Be aware, they add a service fee (tip) to the check automatically. All in all a mildly disappointing experience.

Had tea here this afternoon with my wife and our granddaughter. This was her first high tea. The service was impeccable with the staff continually following up to assure satisfaction. The sandwiches were very nice, the sweets certainly were a delight, but the hit of the afternoon was the scones. Moist, delicious, crumbly - an absolute delight. All in all, an excellent experience!

Came here for afternoon tea and asked for the vegetarian option. Got a mixture of vegan/glutenfree(?) afternoon tea and the regular afternoon tea, with the sandwiches being a massive disappointment. We got a cucumber sandwich consisting of slices of cucumber (and nothing else) on what we assume (by the texture and flavour) was glutenfree bread. We never mentioned being gluten intolerant in any way, and even if we were, glutenfree bread does not need to be that dry. Tomato sandwich: same thing. Just tomato and nothing else. The service staff seemed as disappointed as we were, and we got a hastily made egg salad sandwich and a cucumber sandwich (with cream cheese) from the kitchen as a replacement. Half our meal was comped. Strange experience, would not recommend for any vegetarians.

Lovely having afternoon tea here. Pretty small diningroom with just the right amount of activity. Not to quiet but not to loud. Great music playing in the background aswell. Very helpfull staff who made sure we had anything we wished for. A great assortment of finger-sandwiches, small cakes and the best scones we've ever had. If wanted you can ask for extra servings of all items. Overall a fantastic experience, would really recommend to go here for afternoon tea!

We were visiting London and wanted to experience traditional afternoon tea. The Capital Hotel Tea Room has a lovely ambience and the tea menu was very tasty. The prices were reasonable as compared to other places in the area.

Restaurnt at the Capital was a great place. Superb food quality, great attentive service and fantastic ambiance. All together a great experience and worth every penny of it. My next visit to London I will certainly stop by and highly recommend it. I have been in restaurant business for forty year and do not get impressed easily.

Rated 9/9 on this site but I struggle to see how. £115 for sandwiches made with the heal of the bread? Not even sliced properly. Sunburst white bread that squashed to a dough. Scones that weren’t fully cooked in the middle but raisins all burnt around the outside. Had to ask for a wine list. Plates that look like those found on a school canteen, on a stand that wasn’t even polished. It’s the fine details that allow you to charge that sort of money. It was basic cafe standard at most. Place was empty bar 1 other table who also left complaining to the manager. I didn’t say anything as I was treating my teen daughter and didn’t want to spoil her day.

The service was slow. After waited initially for 15-20 minutes to be seated at the table, the staff made a mistake and seated us in the dining room when I had requested for the living room. The additional time required to set up the living room was another 15 minutes. Service was immensely slow with probably one staff serving the whole area. Even asking for the bill took 20 minutes when my son could not wait any longer, threw a huge tantrum and disturbed other guests, unfortunately. I will never return to The Capital for future tea gatherings. There is also no flexibility; my child who did not eat a morsel was charged the full amount for the tea set. Absolutely appalling management!
