9.5/10Had a lovely dinner here and the service was great. Very quiet at 7:30pm so didn’t actually need to make a reservation, I would come back to this restaurant though next time I’m in Matera.

9.5/10Ai palmenti was lovely. The food was fresh and very nicely prepared, and the service was very nice, even with a little bit of a language barrier. But it was not a problem. I had a tomato/mango/avocado salad that was probably the freshest, most delicious salads that I have ever had in my life. The atmosphere is cozy. We had a 7:00 dinner reservation and left by about 8:20, and we were still the only ones in there which shocked us because it was so good. We felt so bad for them that no one else was in there! I hope that later in the night it filled up for them! It was a very good meal. My only negative would be the pre-packaged cookie desserts and the pre-packaged ice cream desserts, which seemed really strange after such a lovely meal, and really strange for Italy in general. We have never seen that before.

6.5/10Extremely slow service. The place was not crowded but waiters seemed to be rushing and distracted for no apparent reason, though they were kind at all times. Food was ok but nothing to die for. I guess the hype is related to the great ambience.

10/10I'm really pleased that I found this restaurant and that I decided to make a reservation. The restaurant is situated in Matera Sassi in one of the Matera caves, a very special place to be in and to dine there. The menu is not large, but the food is excellent, very beautifully presented and delicious. Our daughter wasn't hungry and didn't want to order but still the waitress brought her a bread 'polpetta' free of charge. We also ordered a traditional Puglia cake - il baba' with cream, it was excellent. The staff was very nice, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our meal very much and I highly recommend this restaurant!

10/10Just around a corner off the beaten track and as with everywhere in Matera, google maps will take you there. Food was beautifully presented and so tasty. Staff were so attentive and considerate, not rushing us through the meal, but waited patiently while we chatted with the couple on the next table! Best meal we had during our four night stay in Matera. Definitely recommend

10/10What a fabulous restaurant - it was surprisingly quiet considering how busy Matera can be. We were seated by the owner who looked after us all evening - you could tell how proud of his food he was and how much he wanted us to have a great time. He helped us with recommendations from the food menu and wine, not offering the expensive options either! The antipasti was fabulous, we had the polpette Di pane and parmigiana, both fantastic. From the primi course two of our party had the orichietti, one a fish pasta( can’t remember the name but ultimately the ravioli was so delicious everyone agreed it was the highlight! For the secondi we all chose the beef cheeks which were simply stunning, can’t say more! What a lovely evening with amazing food at good prices, great wine and fantastic service. I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough!!
