From the moment we walked through the door of the Akashon, the staff was taking good care of us. The food was delicious, and fresh. Our server was on top of things, even when the restaurant was getting busier. Many choices for the main course, and desserts. We highly recommend this restaurant, and can't wait to return to The Akashon in Chamonix, France.

The food was good, however, somehow we were served after people who arrived after us. It took over 25 minutes for someone to come to our table. There were all types of bugs flying around during dinner and paper came out of a bottle that had tap water in it. Very strange. I ordered a coke light but received a Coke Zero. I wish I had known before when I ordered that coke light wasn’t available. We also had an accidental extra charge on our bill. Our waitress took care of it immediately but still very weird. All of these things were minor but added together made for a dissatisfying meal.

The restaurant and staff are lovely and the service is great. Unfortunately the food just does not match. Our chicken supreme was very over cooked and rubbery, the pork belly still had lots of cartilage and looked poorly presented, lentils were quite average nothing to elevate them. I really wanted to enjoy this place but left feeling very underwhelmed.

Very good experience in general. The place was very nice and warm. The service was overall great and Alex, the guy who served us, was amusing and helpful. The food kept a very high standard as expected in a place like this and I could say it was not so expensive for the value it gives.

We ate there a second night having had such a delicious meal on our first night. Beautifully created and a wonderful fusion of flavours. Keep room for the desserts.

The wine was disproportionately expensive. A glass of wine - 10€ for a fairly average glass of petite chablis and it was 125ml, not a carafe! The cheaper wines by the glass sounded very basis, but started at 7€ upwards.

We ate from the set 3 course dinner menu, which was very good value. We were offered an amuse bouche of cauliflower velouté which was lovely and each course that followed was creative and delicious.

The food was really good. However, the service was not. In particular, any promises made by TripAdvisor‘s description as being a restaurant that caters to vegetarians and offers gluten-free dishes was disappointed. One vegetarian dish on the menu (where the menu was pretty extensive otherwise) and the advice provided on gluten-free food was very limited and simply not provided in a number of instances. One of our group members got sick from the food as it must have been wrongfully provided as gluten-free. The staff in general seemed to be all new, there was quite a lot of chaos going on (despite only 30% of the tables being busy). The cook certainly did a great job for most of us in a group of 10 people. Unfortunately, the unprofessional service reduced the experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Restaurant
Dear Sir,
I am very sorry regarding your experience in our restaurant Akashon and very surprised at the same time.
As you mentionned in your comment, you booked our restaurant because of the very good comments regarding our ability to cater vegetarian and gluten free dishes, which is true.
We offer à la carte 2 vegetarian starters and 2 vegetarian main courses. For gluten free options, 3 starters out of 5 on the menu, 2 main courses and 7 desserts out of 8 on the menu! I don't think you will find so many options of this quality in this region.
Our staff is very experienced and the waiters who looked after your table are now working for 3 years in this place and are well trained to deal with all dietary requirements. They offered you all the support and advices, even to go out of our Chef's Menu without any extra to be flexible as we always do.
This is probably why your table left 55€ tips at the end of the dinner. Pretty good for a very bad service as you mentionned...

We had the chefs tasting menu, Food was great and wine pairing was good fun. Will certainly be going back to try more of their food, the chefs clearly enjoy cooking as well as being excellent at it
