10/10One of the best nights ever! This little restaurant is a gem! The service from owner Janus and his team is marvellous. There were jokes, warmth & a wonderful buzz in this gorgeous place. The food was fabulous and so generous! Our group loved it. We had to have a photo with Janus as a memento of the evening. You will not regret dining here!

7.5/10We had a nice meal, but thought that the prices were on the high end of what can be considered reasonable. Enjoyed the lard for entry, and then the duck with oranges as main. The potatoes accompanying the duck were only so so, but the duck was excellent. Friends told us that they had issues with the correctness of the bill, so we added up all items and they tried to overcharge us. That is really unnecessary, unless those “honest mistakes” (??) happen all the time?

8/10Great food, good service but….. We have booked our Saturday dinner with friends for 6 pm a couple of days ahead. Only after the arrival we were informed that we need to leave at 7.30 pm. Very disappointing. We wouldn’t book this restaurant if this condition will be presented to us while booking. Personally I think that if you spend $ 300 you should be allowed to eat without a stress. Good food but not sure if we will be back.

10/10Alchemy is a wonderfully authentic Polish restaurant. The food was delicious and I've gone back a few times and the quality has never wavered. The service is second to none. If you miss Poland or enjoy quality authentic Polish food this is the place to go.

10/10Be sure to book ahead for Alchemy, they have to turn people away! Delicious rich Polish food with lovely staff with lovely character of crocheted table clothes, fresh flowers and local art on the walls. Be sure to have Pierogi to start, with all the toppings! Bring your appetite for the generous dishes, though there are some smaller mains, if you’re leaving room for the delicious selections of cakes. And I’m told the classic vodka & apple juice is perfect!

10/10We are regulars at Alchemy and just cant get enough. No matter the dish we choose, it is always plate-licking delicious and being Polish myself, I know it is also authentic. The vibe in the restaurant is very homely and the service is so prompt, even when the restaurant is booked out!

8.5/10This restaurant is so cute! Marketed as a café and restaurant, it's excellent for coffee and their sinfully delicious homemade cakes. It's also a lively, cherry place for dinner, servings authentic Polish dishes. We had herring with pumpernickel, pierogi, followed by roasted duck breast and chicken schnitzel with mash and cabbage salad. The staff were efficient and polite. They even helped me work my Polish. We're going back there.

9.5/10We went in a large group and got the chance to order and share a few dishes. All the food was great but my favorites are the pierogis and the shank. The service was excellent and the staff and owner were jovial and looked after us so well. Highly recommended.

9.5/10From the minute you walk in the restaurant you felt welcomed. Came with the family and the food had something for everyone. The dumplings are a must to try, we got three different ones and all were fabulous. Our table ordered schnitzels, goulash and the special of goose. The servings are generous, so you won’t go home hungry. Will definitely be back.

The foodie elixir of life Alchemy is a cosy and unpretentious slice of Europe in the heart of Surry Hills and features some of Sydney's only Polish dishes. Along with heavenly homemade cakes and fresh coffee, Alchemy boasts a more substantial menu filled with European classics like beef stroganoff, veal scaloppine and traditional radziwill (pork tenderloin stuffed with spinach and cheese in pink pepper sauce). Brekkie features an impressive list of pancakes and Polish sausages while evenings become more elegant, with soft jazz music and soothing candlelight. Alchemy is more than a restaurant; it's an invitation to connect with Polish cuisine and hospitality – an opportunity to enjoy the food of Eastern Europe in a setting that feels a bit like your grandma's dinner table.
