A return visit only 3 days after we first tried Alforno. That speaks volumes. Excellent once again, the pizzas are superb especially the seafood one. The staff are excellent, the owner came over for a chat and was so pleasant. You really shouldn’t miss this wonderful restaurant.

Our first night in Funchal and we will definitely be going back. The pizza’s were superb , up there with the very best I have ever had and the pasta just as good. A great size glass of wine at only €4 and you must try the banana beer! The staff were extremely friendly and the service brilliant. Fantastic. Trust me go there.

The waiting staff were friendly and professional except the one that took our order who was a bit too sassy. Food was decent, burrata salad was the highlight. Linguine with prawns was ok but not as authentic as we’d hoped. The grilled salmon was ok (nothing special) and the broccolini was too salty. Sangria was nice enough and tasted like a summer holiday. Pizzas looked good but we didn’t try any on this occasion.

As many other reviews, the staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. Service was swift and courteous. Food was very good. Can't believe the 1 and 2 star reviews - perhaps very picky people, troublemakers or fakes.

The pizzas we had were very good. However we were concerned about the food handling. Bare hands preparing all kinds of food is not good leads to all kinds of cross contamination

It's important to clarify that, according to legal regulations, our pizzaiolos are not required to wear gloves. Also our cooking process, which involves temperatures of 480- 550 degrees, effectively eliminating any bacteria. Additionally, during this phase, the food isn't touched with bare hands; it's meticulously cut and served. Our decision not to wear gloves while shaping the dough is rooted in our commitment to crafting high-quality pizzas efficiently. My first time at Alforno. Good ambience. Plenty to choose from on the menu. Unfortunately I have a Basil allergy so my choices were limited. However my choice was tasty and well cooked. My wife’s Calzone was massive and also flavoursome. Service was good and the house wine most palatable.

I recently tried out this Italian restaurant and overall, I must say I was satisfied. The food was okay, but I have to admit it didn't quite compare to authentic Italian cuisine. The ambiance was pleasant and the service friendly. If you're looking for a satisfying meal in a cozy environment, this is definitely the place to go. However, if you're seeking an authentic Italian culinary experience, you might need to look elsewhere. Overall, I'd give this restaurant a solid 4 out of 5.

I have eaten at Alforno several times, both with groups of friends and as a couple. The food is always delicious—thin, crispy pizza and authentic carbonara—, and the staff is extremely nice.

Pizzas especially good. Full of flavour and not soggy. As we were there a few times over a four week period we tried various main courses. All were good. Portions were certainly ample. Staff were friendly and efficient. When busy, you may wait a little while but the staff are working fast and in an organised way.

I joined 2 friends last night for pizza and drinks. It was our first visit but definitely won't be our last! The pizza crust was especially delicious . I had Hawaiian, and they had an anchovy 4 cheese pizza and the white Shuffle Truffle pizza. There were many enticing items on the menu and they would even have allowed me to order something for myself from the kid's menu since I had gastric bypass surgery many years ago and can't eat much at once. But I had pizza on my mind, and so I brought half home for lunch leftovers. Delicious. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. We ate outside, so it was a little noisy from street traffic, but the inside of the restaurant was bright with a high ceiling and offered many tables at a comfortable room temperature.

The food was lovely the lasagne was recommended by the server and was amazing. The service was excellent. I would throughly recommend this restaurant. Everything was perfect the staff really go out their way for you. Thank you for a great dining experience.
