About the restaurant Algarabía

"This small and cozy restaurant is located right on Union Street, in the center of Madrid's capital. In its clear and intimate space, you can devote yourself to a relaxed and comfortable stay.

Its kitchen offers you succulent Rioja specialties prepared with loving care and craftsmanship, and under a rigorous selection of fresh and seasonal ingredients. All of this results in generous dishes such as the Rioja-style cod and chumarro with onion comfit.

An ideal place with a romantic touch where to taste the magnificent flavors of Riojan cuisine and with a close-at-hand and unbeatable service."

This is like dining in the home of friends. I've been several times over the years and it continues to improve. The duck confit with leeks is a perfect starter .. light and refreshing ... the oxtails (rabo de toro) decadent ... the bluefish was excellent and they were able to omit the pistachios for my friend; the bacalao in the style of la rioja was perfect ... and we ordered all 4 desserts and passed them around ... Isabel is the perfect host and Pilar runs a kitchen the continues to put out wonderful food .... go .. enjoy ... go back again!

Wonderful restaurant! Owned by two sisters, this is a hidden gem. Absolutely need a reservation, as the restaurant is incredibly small and only open for a few hours each night. The food was delightful and the service superb. Lovely dining experience in Madrid!

Truly a wonderful, memorable dinner! The dining area is a small, intimate room that seats maybe 25 diners, and it’s like having dinner with your family in Rioja. The front of the house is run by Isobel, who waits and busses tables herself. Her sister, Pilar, is the chef. We both had fish dishes as main courses, and they were excellent - large portions of fresh fish. My wife started with a salad and I had asparagus wrapped in pastry, both of which were very good. Isobel recommended the House rioja as Wine and it was a typical, fine wine of that variety. For dessert we shared the baked apple topped with toffee mousse and it was to die for - a large portion that was plenty for two and simply perfect. By the end of the evening we were in the hugs and kisses mode with both Isobel and Pilar. A wonderful night out in one of our new favorite places.

When we sat down at 9:30 the room was quit and only one other table was occupied. But, it being Saturday night in Madrid, It was busy by 10:45 or so..

We had a great experience at Algarabía. The hostess and the chef are sisters, and they worked together to make us feel as if we were having a meal in their home. The food, from the Rioja region, was tasty as were the house wines. Overall a really nice respite from the busy Madrid scene!

You were very welcoming and friendly. We loved the food. You made a good recommendation for me and I appreciated that. Our wine was also very good.
It was great to talk to the chef after the meal. When we left it was like leaving old friends. Thank for a great night

This restaurant is stuck in time. Seems like they've had the same menu for years. They need major updating in the decor and food. Its difficult to even open the door to get in. It's overpriced for what it is.
