Restaurant atypique ds une cave voûtée. Plats très originaux, copieux et savoureux. Une seule serveuse dévouée, charmante, ms débordée. Il faut embaucher!

Esperábamos más. La comida podría mejorar, comimos un muslo de pato demasiado seco, un bacalao con una salsa muy rica pero un rebozado con sabor a aceite requemado. El sitio es bonito pero la sensación de que escuchas las conversaciones de todas las mesas. Una camarera atenta pero resulta insuficiente, no para de dar vueltas a la cocina que parece estar una planta arriba.

This restaurant is what will get us back to Granada one day!! Miele, our server, made our 25th anniversary celebration very special. Foodies, look no further. I highly recommend this place.

The menu is highly creative, offering unusual combinations of dishes. The advice from our waiter was most helpful in deciding what combinations would work and which might not. I also give him credit for recommending the house wine, rather than a more expensive bottle. Some of the dishes worked better than others, for example the combination of green tomatoes, anchovies and capers was excellent, as was the marinated salmon with fresh red ginger. On the other hand, the flan and a sauce based on condensed milk was rather sickly. The ambience is surprisingly pleasant, considering that you are dining in a 17th century cellar and although we normally abhor background music, the guitar rendering of everything from Hotel California to Ravel’s bolero was unobtrusive and entertaining.

The Aljibe 1644 exceeded all our expectations! It is located directly off the Carrera del Darro in an ancient basement/bunker of a hotel. We were seated by the Chef, who is also the host and waiter due to the current Covid situation. The restaurant is cozy and has a delightful ambiance. We don't read Spanish so it was difficult to decipher the menu; however, the Chef guided us to a wonderful culinary experience. He suggested we start with Salmorejo served with red currants and evoo ice cream; it was excellent. Our main dishes consisted of grilled mango Octopus and Bacalao served in a lemon almond sauce. Both dishes were expertly prepared and tasted great. This meal was paired with a fantastic wine from Granada. We ended the evening with aged cheesecake made from spicy goat's milk and Tiramisu--all paired with a local raisin wine. We will return!
