La Topps was a great dining experience. The food was great and the ambience was perfect. The only problem we had was finding the ristorante. The GPS got us to the neighborhood but actually finding be the ristorante was a challenge but well worth the time. If you've never been there and your GPS says it's a 15 minute drive give yourself a lot more time because you're going to need it. There is not a lot of signage to get you to the place

This restaurant is really good. Typical Tuscany dishes, very well prepared and not too pricy. In the middle of a old village, this restaurant is a treasure. Luigi is a great host, the atmosphere is as it should be and it all comes with a nice wine list.

We have dined at La Toppa each of our six visits at a nearby agritourismo over the last twenty years, but have not visited San Donato in Poggio since 2012. It has not changed one bit; even the family that owns and runs this fine village restaurant has not aged to my eye. There is a reason this placed has survived while others in this tiny village have come and gone. The quality is obvious; everything is well prepared and delicious; the hosts are charming. I only wish I had a place like this close to my own home.

Outside the storm raged, but in the restaurant it was warm and friendly with people enjoying the cuisine of Tuscany. The food was delicious. We ordered several dishes that a typical of the region, pappardelle anantra, (pasta with duck sauce) cinghiale in umido (wild boar stew) both which were carefully prepared. A special treat was a grilled porcini mushroom which was brought to the table by the chef for our approval before grilling. That dish surpassed expectations. A suprise find was a Renzo Marinai Chianti Classico which delighted the palate and superbly complimented the subtle flavors of the meal. A return visit to this restaurant will not be soon enough

Great restaurant in the heart of San Donato. The father runs the restaurant and his son is the chef. We have dined at La Toppa twice during our stay. Once for dinner and the second time for lunch. Both meals were excellent. We especially enjoyed the pappardelle pasta with duck sauce and the ravioli with truffle. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was a wonderful find. The owner Luigi Francini explained all of the dishes in detail and encouraged us to try something new. He was gracious and welcoming. We would highly recommend this restaurant experience to all. This is a treasure in San Donato!

Perfect spot to dine with friends in San Donato. Weather permitting, and it usually does in the Summer, you eat outside the Restaurant in the small lane of a typical old Tuscan hamlet. The number of tables expands along the street as the number of guests grow during the evening. Magical. Anytime we are in the area we go. Try it.

What a lovely experience we had here. Totally family. From the granddaughters waiting tables to the father checking up on everything and Grandpa, who is 83, the one who started it all, coming by every table and sharing. Wonderful food and wine. A hidden gem in San Donato.

Fantastic authentic Italian food using the finest ingredients. Beautiful outdoor seating area was truest atmospheric. Wide gluten free selection. Would thoroughly recommend.

Our family of four tried four different entrees. All were good but the two pastas (one with ragu and other were duck) were best. Nice appetizers, sides, and desserts. Outdoor seating on cute street. Delightful evening meal.

Wonderful food and outstanding friendly service. Great value for the price!! Don’t miss the fresh ravioli with truffles. Ask for recommendations on the numerous, locally sourced red wines on the wine list. We had a Le Figare Reserva which was superb with the ravioli. Cheers!
