Great atmosphere .Of the four oldest cafes in Trieste this was the best . It was a pleasant surprise to have several gluten free options . The Bone marrow and the tripe dishes were exceptional. The gluten free chocolate cake was disappointing . The service was very good and the waiter spoke fluently in English .

While Caffè San Marco is a quintessentially Triestine caffè, they offer a wonderful dinner service interspersed with the caffè tables. As such, there is not an easily identifiable host or place to check-in for the restaurant—just ask the floor staff or inquire at the bar. The daily menu is compact, but well-thought out. The food was fresh, delicious, and attractively presented. Will definitely be returning!
