My friend and I had a delightful lunch today at the Arkle Manor. When I asked for a change to the coffee I ordered it was done so quickly and with a lovely smile nothing was too much trouble. We had varied waiters and waitresses serve us and all were kind and looked like they were happy to look after us.

Disappointed with the food here, was rather average and we can think of many better places to eat. Rather expensive for what was on he plate. Inside was rather dark and lacked ambience.

Apart from the fact that at 6pm there were a few things on the menu not available, the food we ordered was lovely and the service excellent. The menu is large and varied so no problems with our second choice.

A well run restaurant with helpful staff . The main course was Good ,no complaints here. Steak well cooked and so was the chicken , vegetables crisp and pleasant chips . Pudding was a let down I think they have changed the recipe for sticky toffee pudding, I remember it being soft and sweet . Now it had nuts in and a rather unpleasant after taste Shame as it ruined the meal for me

Quiet as was a Monday. Lovely garden at the back. Really enjoyed the scallops and prawn starter and the fish cakes. The passion fruit eton mess was very sweet so glad I had the smaller portion that came with coffee. Service very good but next time I will choose a table in the garden itself rather than the glass covered area as it got very hot. Will definitely return.

I was most unhappy that none of the staff who served me were wearing masks, there seemed to be no idea from them regarding infection control, they were touching drinking glasses around the rim, the drinking straws were not in paper sleeves, the table was grubby. Having lived in Betchworth for 30 years until recently, I was shocked, I eat out frequently, I know that Covid restrictions have been lifted, but we are still in the middle of the 3rd wave. Food over priced for the standard offered. I will not be returning, no wonder it was almost empty.

What an awful meal ! So disappointing after a brilliant evening there a month ago ! We both ordered the Beef Salad - what a sad slap dash plate - 3 pieces of cucumber - a few scraps of red onion - mixed with tomato’s and wilted watercress !!!! - what happened to the coriander ??? As stated on menu description ??? Also chipped crockery !! - so poor !!! Bloody awful service - in the end we got up after waiting to order coffee - nobody bothered - we payed at the bar - spoke to the manager who refunded our meal !!! What a lovely Pub - such a shame !!!

I had the chicken milanaise it was very tasty but a bit overcooked, please bring back ordinary chips rather than skinny fries with your meals! The restaurant was very clean, staff attentive

We each had a roast, the meat wasn’t great and neither was the Yorkshire pudding. It wasn’t worth nearly £18 each
