Off the beaten path restaurant and I’m glad we made Reservations as it was packed right when they rolled up the gate at 8:30pm. The food was outstanding…wine selection also extensive and excellent. My suggestion would be regarding ambience and atmosphere ~ the lighting is VERY bright which is never what I want when dining out at a fine dining establishment. Also there was little or no music which is also quite high on my list. Service was prompt and courteous, but not overly friendly.

Food is decent, but not spectacular by Sebastian standard. The lighting is too bright for a fine-dining place. It definitely diminishes the Romance factor.

Comimos arroz con calamar begihaundi y estaba buenísimo . El solomillo también . Pero mis cocotxas las estropearon con una salsa muy salada o fuerte y no poder disfrutar de esa salsa fue una pena . La degustación de postres dejó mucho que desear no la recomiendo para nada . La torrija muy seca sabía más a brioche que a torrija . La pantxineta gomosa y fría a mi siempre me la han servido templadla muy basta y la tarta de queso no sabía a queso si que reconozco que los helados estaban muy buenos . Y nos quisieron con brear un café que no tomamos . Pero eso sería un error y se solventó al momento pero tenía ganas de ir por el programa de Ander y la verdad me decepcionó .

It’s very good, beautifully prepared food in nice surroundings, well worth a visit. The waiting staff are very helpful and friendly. The star is the food, well cooked, presented and amazing flavour, possibly the best meal l have eaten in a long time.

Perfect evening at Astelena tonight. The staff were amazing, wine advice was perfect, food was delicious and the atmosphere was just right. Met a great Swedish bloke as well who came out of one of the private rooms to apologise for the noise. I’ll never forget his analogy of the UK leaving the EU being like a cyclist trying to break free from the peleton! What a guy! Just a really wonderful evening. Thank you, Jim & Sue

Great dining experience. A couple of the dishes were too salty for our taste, but otherwise a fantastic dining experience. The service was impeccable and the ambience was classy, yet very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this restaurant from the moment we were welcomed in, very attentive service without being to intrusive. We opted for the tasting menu and were really glad we choose this option, every dish tasted delicious and was wonderfully presented. All in all this was the best food we had in San Sebastián and we would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who finds themselves in this wonderful city.

Lovely restaurant. Food and service were excellent. The only thing I would suggest is dimming the lighting a little as it’s very bright which affects the ambience for an evening meal.

It was a very sad experience for my birthday. Waiter couldn’t recommend nor dishes nor wine. Birthday candle was brought in silence and it was very poorly presented. In fact I felt like I ate in a very standard restaurant, but heavily overpaid. Waiter was not paying enough attention , and I felt due to young age of my sister , she was also judgemental … I didn’t fell “warm attitude”. Though I mentioned in comments that I am coming to celebrate my birthday . Nothing special for such really high price of standard dishes.
