About the restaurant Au Forum

This restaurant has soul, the chef cooks with passion and creativity. He clearly cares about his food. Maybe not traditional fine dining but still ended up being one of our best meals in France. Did I mention that the chef is friendly and genuine? Great experience, extraordinary value.

Our last night in Paris. The prior six nights we have been at top restaurants. We had a truly magical experience at Au Forum. The food was creative and quite tasty. The chef easily created something special for our son who is a vegetarian . We would definitely go back if we were staying longer .

Unexpectedly high quality food, although served in small amounts.
The place is very simple and there's just a few options in the menu but it was all very good and affordable.

It's ok when you expect a kind of snackbar without fresh cooked food. The guy (it's a one man band!) is nice and friendly. So nothing wrong with that. It's in the neighbourhood of Gare de l'Est. But in summary not more then a Nice snackbar, certainlly not a restaurant.
Restaurant
Madam,

Call this place snackbar or even hole in the wall if it pleases you, it's fine as we do not share the same definition of a restaurant. But "without fresh cooked food"? Fact ? My fridge and suppliers at the greenmarket next door could prove you wrong anytime.

You wanted a more elaborated dinner? You could have ordered the plated dishes that you have seen me make for other tables but you ordered the crepes, beef sandwich and a rice bowl. Seriously what would you expect from that except simple fares made with integrity ?

A piece of advice if you will, next time you are asked if everything was to your liking, act like an adult and just answer truthfully instead, i would have gladly comp your bill as I believe my food is not made to be that pompeous and snob, i expect the same from my guests. But then again we obviously do not have the same view of the hospitality business. Hope you did enjoy your trip though.

Regards,

The one man band
