I was the only customer - the proprietor told me it’s busier at lunchtimes - but even so he broke off taking my order to answer the phone. Duck foie gras starter was good but deserved a better support act than square sliced bread. Veal main was a nicely cooked piece of meat but the accompanying baked figs seemed to have been stewed in blackberry jam. I requested a green salad which was OK but I’m not sure the dressing was freshly made. Cheese to follow was good. The interior might benefit from a coat of fresh paint. The kitchen staff need to be aware that when discussing the customers, they can be heard in the restaurant.
