About the restaurant Avô Arnaldo
Located in the center of Matosinhos City, near the Sr. Matosinhos Church, you can find a restaurant where everything reflects the portuguese culture. The crockery used brings us memories of our ancestors.
In the same place we offer to different experiences. In the Petiscaria (snacks) we can taste the typical food of Portugal with a modern touch, preserves, hams, cheese and sausages. This is the place where you can share with your family and friends. On the other hand, the restaurant room offers a traditional service with all the ingredients that our country does so good, cod fish, grilled meat...

Wonderful multilingual service - English, French, Portuguese. Great flavours, well presented food, good portion sizes. Good wine selection. The octopus is really good.

Great service on a beautiful restaurant. The food is delicious and with various choices. Been there twice, never left disappointed.

The place is really beautiful.
The menu is very poor, Although with 8/9 main courses, the choice was limited, narrowed to cod fish, octopus, shrimp, beef or pork...
For deserts they had homemade chocolate cake and 2 kind of fruits: apple and orange...
Even-though with the lack of variety of choices, if food was really good we could think they would want to be completely focused and specialized on those dishes to make them delicious but that was not the case. The food was very regular and the product quality was below the average, dryed small shrimps from the freezer, unseasoned vegetables or salty cod fish.
The staff is helpful and friendly.
This place have great potential to be much better and we would like to come back when the taste of the food matches with the beauty of the his lovely decoration.
