Hailing from the state of Haryana, Sumit showcases the best of India’s rich culinary history as he takes over the kitchen reins of Avrah. Some of Sumit’s fondest childhood memories consist of watching his grandmother prepare delicious food passed down from generations in the family, always encouraging him to experiment with different flavours and cuisines. These memories served as inspiration to take a leap of faith, leaving his full-time IT job to turn his immense passion and excitement for food into a profession. Here at Avrah, situated in the heart of lively Brunswick, Sumit serves creativity to the table. Avrah prides itself on celebrating fresh local Australian produce in traditional Indian cuisine, while also incorporating modern cooking techniques. 10/10This place was exceptional. My friend hasn't eaten much Indian food before and was wary. She loved all of it. Great chicken korma, wonderful cheese garlic nan bread and the best chicken tikka I have ever had. So good in fsct that we ordered a second helping. The waiteess was very friendly and took an interest in us. This place is a must!

8/10I have visited Avrah about 3 times now. We have ordered something different with each visit. On this occasion we ordered the beef Kashmiri, chicken madras, amritsari kulcha and cumin & peas pulao. Everything was delicious. We will visit again.

10/10The food was delicious, we ordered the lamb biryani, it came out in a clay pot covered by a pastry sheet, which we have never seen before. Staff was friendly. Definitely recommend it.

8/10Consistently good dishes that are well presented and full of flavor. A friend who eats very spicy food is yet to be challenged by the vindaloo and is supplied with a green chili paste to make it hotter! Chicken tikka and Naans the favorite for those not liking spicy food as well as the goat cheese chicken. Another favorite is the cashew and raisin pulau to go with the curries we ordered as this rice dish isn’t something that is found at other Indian restaurants. Been here many times now and food quality and service remains consistently good.

10/10The food was incredible! We had the onion bhaji, palak paneer, aloo Chhole and Daal Double Tadka. Everything was so delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful with letting us know how much to order for a table of 4. Great ambiance.
