10/10This restaurant is an hidden gem of London! Great food, good vibes and excellent service. We visited frequently (more than twenty times) by ourselves or treat guests for an excellent meal. The food is always delicious and exciting new flavours to experience. The team, especially the manager, George really care, from the service to catering for different dietary requests. Feel lucky to have this place so local! We go to visit again soon!

9/10We chose the mid range tasting menu which was simply delicious, every course was excellent! They kindly agreed to substitute one of the mains due to dietary requirements. We will definitely aim to return and hopefully soon!

8/10have been to Bamboo Mat a few times now. I love the food and the ambience and the Fork give a great deal. The waiters/waitresses could be more alert in terms of when customers are trying to get there attention, but otherwise all good and a good experience overall, and would still return again.

7.5/10Really delicious food and very accommodating restaurant, we changed a couple of things from the tasting menu , they were really lovely about it. Tasting menu was amazing we opted for the £48pp one and it was plenty of food , and every dish was so delicious, just the dessert was a bit mediocre.

7/10Good sushi but I think it was better couple of months ago. It’s a real shame that the service is not as good as the food. The waiters/ waitresses should be more knowledgable and talkative. A thing that I noticed straight away was the dirty menus. You can’t give dirty menus. The place has lots of potential but it seems that owners don’t know hour to manage it.

About this restaurant
It is the second restaurant from Denis Gobjila and Victor Rosca, nestled in the vibrant new London neighbourhood of East Village right next to Stratford Westfield. Bamboo Mat is fast becoming synonymous with exciting modern Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of both Peruvian and Japanese culinary highlights. The beautiful restaurant has 84 covers and a private dining room seating 10 - it has been designed by Peruvian Sebastian Salas studio and is inspired by the traditional arts and culture he grew up with.
