About the restaurant Banca de Pau

We shared most of the dishes on the menu and reallly every dish was so good. The service was very friendly and it was about the best value of any restaurant we have tried. The atmosphere is quite casual and friendly

Organic local north portugese simply but taty food- based on meat / saudages and cheese. Good sweets- fake cheesecake and dark chocolate with salt and olive-can be recommended.
Interior - very simple combination of delicatessen and taverna.

Absolutely fabulous meal! Passionate owner, friendly, knowledgeable server, excellent recommended wines, and truly remarkable food. We loved the fact that they allowed “half-portions” of many of the small plates, so we CPI;d try even more of their interesting dishes. We’ve been in Portugal for almost a month now—Lisbon, Sintra, Algarve, Porto and now back in Lisbon—and this is one of our top two meals. The other was at Tapabento in Porto. Obrigada for a memorable evening!

Fantástico! We arrived late and the chef/owner (?) re-opened the kitchen just for us... savory foods, exactly why we hiked across Lisbon just to see if these reviews were true. And they are. We'll be back., it was worth the hike. Thank you again for the gracious care and culinary delights!

Small tapas restaurant, everything was really good and produced by the owner. The owner is also explaining all the menu in fidderent languages and taking your order. We had a really nice experience and definitely will try more dishes next time.

So glad we found this little gem. Truly passionate folks who are proud of their cuisine from North East Portugal. . Our server quickly explained the menu then answered our many questions. Most were dishes we were not familiar and we actually tried almost everything on the menu. Each one was a treat. We especially liked the crushed ckick peas with codfish cakes. Even the courgette salad was an unexpected treat. So simple but delicious. We were asked what type of wine we enjoyed. We were offered two to taste and quckly made our decision. The "fake cheesecake" was made with Greek yogurt and honey....sublime. We ended the evening with an excellent aged Aguardente. We felt the food was outstanding and very reasonably priced Our hostess/server seemed so very pleased that we enjoyed our evening. She quickly has become our new best friend. We hope to return some day.
