A Largo Argentina, in una delle zone centrali della capitale più frequentata dai turisti per la vicinanza con molti siti di interesse storico e archeologico, si sta registrando ultimamente una inversione di tendenza in ambito ristorativo: alle insegne che propongono una cucina “semplice” si affiancano nuovi indirizzi che puntano sulla qualità. Uno di questi è il Barbieri 23, locale piccolo ma accogliente, il cui design è stato curato nel dettaglio ottimizzando gli spazi richiamando atmosfere metropolitane grazie all’utilizzo di determinati materiali. Colori scuri, un bancone con sgabelli, i vini e le eccellenti materie prime in mostra.

La particolarità della proposta gastronomica del Barbieri 23 è la sua cucina “rigenerativa”: non essendo presente la cappa non si può ricorrere all’utilizzo di gas, fuoco e piastre ad induzione. Lo chef Giorgio Baldari ha quindi puntata sulla ricerca di grandi materie prime e ha messo a punto alcune ricette che gli consentono di proporre piatti caldi che si contraddistinguono per l’eccellente sapore, come nel caso dello “Stinco di Agnello”.

    We opted for the experimental 5 courses of fish. Mostly raw, salmon, tuna, langoustine, John Dory, prawns, mackerel with interesting marinades and accompanied with chilli, salsa, pulses.

    Absolutely fantastic thank you Giorgio - really great quality and interesting food; my son and I each had the 5 course tasting menu, one meat, one fish. Giorgio really made us feel welcome - my son is gluten free - no problem, he had GF bread and crackers to replicate most of what was on the menu. Very friendly, relaxed, great food and atmosphere- the music playlist is great too!

    Fantastic meal for my husbands birthday, great, trendy, service and atmosphere, even on Monday evening, lovely local red wine. Veal and fillet beef is a must try, great desert, best meal in Rome for sure! definitely coming back when in Rome. Thank you!

    The selection platters are very interesting and innovative, however, instead of mixing different ingredients they focus on one food group (example: salmon or cured beef) which becomes a bit repetitive. The wine by the glass portion was very small. The ravioli alla ricotta which I ordered was also very bland.

    Miserable, rainy Monday evening in the middle of November so would be a shame to mark down regards atmosphere as not really their fault. Food was very interesting. Particularly loved the vegetable garden platter selection and the truffle ravioli with ragout. Recommended. Bit pricey but excellent value with the Fork discount.

    Wonderful food and lovely service by the owner, who was knowledgable and welcoming (and also spoke English fluently). All of the dishes were generous, interesting and of great quality, especially the raw fish appetizers and spinach salad. Do yourself a favor and pick a dish that comes with the amazing mustard/truffle sauce. We will definitely come back when in Rome.

    Barbieri 23 is an interesting restaurant and not like one you are likely to find elsewhere in Rome or anywhere else in Italy, possibly. The food is imaginative and really good. The service was attentive and helpful. English is spoken readily, which might be my only complaint -- I love speaking Italian. On the other hand, the menu is different enough that it was helpful having it explained in my native tongue. In addition to all this, the prices are extremely reasonable. Prepare to be thrilled! Our only regret is that we couldn't order more of the interesting things that were available, because we were full!
