The food was excellent and the menu had a number of interesting options for meat eaters and vegetarians. Meals were beautifully presented. Restaurant had a lovely ‘gezellig’ atmosphere. Would definitely return.

Was a great night. Food was good. Would come again.
With 12 of us the menu fulfilled all our needs with a variety of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Shared entree was a success.

Excellent quality food. The chicken liver starter was especially fine. The 3 course set menu is a good meal.

Again it was a great pleasure to eat here.
Relaxed and nice atmosphere.
Great food. Not too fancy, but with a nice twist, which makes it special.

The best part of Basaal is the way they make you feel - so special and pampered! And the food is great also! We ate here Saturday evening with 4 of us and ordered 2 bottles of wine - a red and a white. After we ordered the wine the chef then decided what food went well with our choices, and when our white was up, the hostess brought us another glass of another delicious white that would go nicely with our second starter! The same attention and care was given to the cheese course and of course the dessert - special wines chosen for us when our bottle of red was up. And as a close - with our coffee we were given small homemade biscuits which topped our experience off beautifully! All that and the meal for 4 was €356 - well worth it for such a lovely evening.

We loved this restaurant! It was refreshing not to have to choose between the usual carpaccio and smoked salmon that all restaurants insist on having on their menu. From the appetizer to the dessert, Basaal offered excellent food and wine to a reasonable price, with very friendly service. We recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a culinary experience out of the ordinary Hague repertoire.

We ate here on restaurant week and it was tops! The food and service very good, although the tables were a bit cramped. We had our choice of 3 different starters and 2 different main courses, and were given options to add an extra starter or include a cheese course. Basaal really went out of their way to make sure we were happy! And the wine selection was good - we ordered 2 bottles and had the extra cheese course and the bill came out to 280€ for 4. Excellent!
