Highly recommendable!!Fresh and very tasty food, not your run-off-the-mill tapas restaurant. Good size portions too. Great service with a smile, although the waiting times were too long between courses.

The food is nothing out of this world; it has warm flavors. The service is terrible. They are heavily understaffed so you feel like they don't care for you. When you do get their attention they are plain and (at times) unfriendly. We saw some people walk out after waiting to get some service....the waiters didn't seem to care! This place is not worth your money!

Obviously they had issues and we had to wait a long time - too long actually even to get our first drinks. I would recommend that next time the staff warn the customers about the delays, it helps.

we saw a basq restaurant in rotterdam....and we love basq kitchen, the place looks so nice and cousy,as soon we made the order we been feeling like was a bit caothic place, waiters were just like chickens with no heads and was wrong what we order
the food.....just incredible than they get mention it un the big goumand, control of the kitchen a big dissaster, cooks just swetty and the lookin was rushy and dirty
albondigas...kind of dark soup with we guees meat and potatoes uncooked(wet dog food)
calamaris...slime and raw
rice dish...over coocked and stiky and a really funny taste
alli olli....very glueed mayo with garlic flavor
we would never ever ever come back anymore

I came a year ago and their Argus steak made this resturant unforgetable for me. This time I came back I missed the surprise of that taste I tasted before. Pity. Other dishes in general are still fine. It is still one of the best tapas resturant in town. Downstairs is very cosy but deco at second floor miss an anker point that it feels a bit cold and hollow.

The food excellent and the staff very friendly and knowledgable about the food and drinks they served. A very good experience, worth repeating. It would be good though if they could do something about the drafty street entrance that made the place a bit chilly.

De Markthal is already a non-Dutch experience itself, but having lunch in BasQ really adds to a Spanish holiday feeling. The waiter was from Spain, a nice start when visiting a Spanish tapas restaurant. A lovely red whine was a enjoyed before the lovely albondigas and calamaris arrived. The fish soup was great too and the espresso macchiato worth a visit itself.

Good food and very nice service. House wine is much recommended! The slow cooked egg will become my regular dish, must try.

Unbelievable the reviews this place has been getting! I was there with a group of friends for lunch today. The food was very disappointing to say the least and more like "Dutch tapas" than anything to do with Spanish food. Think bitterballen, croquettes and rundergehaktballetjes rather than gambas al ajillo, pimientos rellenos and albondigas. Furthermore, the meatballs we ordered were undercooked and thus inedible. The staff never apologized for this embarrassing situation, but instead tried to charge us for the ones we had bitten into! My advice to anyone thinking of visiting BasQ is: don't go!
