We booked Afternoon Tea for 4 people including 1 gluten free. The gluten free had as many sandwiches just for them as 3 of us had to share. Sandwiches were lovely but not nearly enough to the point of being a joke. I have also never seen scones like the ones served. They looked more like Yorkshire puddings and were chewy. This was booked so they knew we were coming and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The cost was £24 per person. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were lovely and it was all served on gorgeous plates/cups etc. I would normally have said something at the time but it was for my mum's Birthday and she was loving the occasion and making a complaint would have spoilt this but I honestly cannot believe that the chef could have been happy with sending out what they did.

The restaurant was absolutely amazing outstanding food great service all the staff were helpful well dressed and welcoming. It is in great spot in the centre of Birmingham it is a hidden gem inside the heart of the city centre

Scones so hard my knife did not cut througt, impossible to know what was the past expiry date of the three mini gateau. Sandwiches were fresh! But this is a no-go. Never again!

The service was excellent. The ambience is also very nice. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The sandwich fillings did not taste fresh. There was avocado filling that tasted like it came from a package. The cheese and chutney sandwich was the best, as chutney doesn't need to be fresh to taste great. The scones were dry. The eclairs were still frozen. I was the only person in the dining room. I appreciate that the restaurant can't be making a bunch of fresh food for just one person. Still, if afternoon tea is going to be offered, the restaurant should figure out what foods will taste good when made in advance.

We arrived early but the staff were very accommodating and served our afternoon tea straight away. Very well presented afternoon tea tray, just one thing I think that could have improved our experience - a menu showing a list of teas and coffees available plus a description of all the cakes (as we had to guess!) Otherwise, it was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon celebrating a birthday!

A beautiful room which would have been perfect if the heating had been on , there were 2 tiny room heaters on the floor which did not suffice the room size . We ordered two sirloin steaks and were told they only had one which on an early Saturday evening is a little bizarre , I had the Rib Eye instead though at the end was charged for Sirloin . I have to say the food was excellent , probably the best meal I have had for some time

We had afternoon tea on a Saturday lunch time; the food was lovely and lots of cakes, service good, but as we were the only people in there there was no real atmosphere. Also the room was cold, I’m sure if it were busy it would make it a 5 star experience

Firstly, the staff were lovely and helpful. Booked a festive afternoon tea which promised “… a refined afternoon tea with a dash of seasonal surprise. Brimming with the distinctive flavours of Christmas …”. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. No Christmas music, just a local radio station. The food was very average. The sausage roll which arrived separately fell apart as it wasn’t wrapped. Aside from a Turkey and cranberry sandwich in the selection, nothing gave us a distinctive flavour of Christmas. About half way through we were brought some chocolate log (mine was not long out of the freezer, defrosted but still cold). The scones were lovely but came with cream and no jam. When requested it was provided straight away with a smile. Tea was replenished quickly. Not sure what the seasonal surprise was. Maybe the surprise was that there wasn’t one!

This is our 2nd attempt at a "festive" afternoon tea for 4 people and, although not as disastrous as our first time the "festive" element wasn't there. Usual afternoon sandwiches, the cakes were uneven so we had to pick 1 o the other, yet we paid for 4 people, surely there should have been the same x4. The fire alarm went off as we were about to pay - we couldn't leave until we had paid after which we were pretty much thrown out - safety did not come first. The service charge, although we didn't mind paying it, surely they're supposed to inform us it had been added. So no, won't be going back even if it is so convenient for the train station.
