the food was slightly disappointing. I had the choucroute de la mer, and it had clearly been sitting under a hot lamp before the service since the fish was a bit dried out, although delicious. Also, the sorbets ordered were mixed up although the waitress immediately brought the supplementary flavors that were missing from each order.

What makes this place special is its interior, especially "la coupole". They serve Alsatian specialties (Choucroute), Fish and Seafood and some brasserie classics. Since it's a famous place you will have to pay a little extra, but we thought it was certainly worth it. The service was impeccable and after all, it's a place you go to for the experience. A mixture of (often underdressed) tourists and local people. In our view it is definitely not a tourist trap.

Beautiful institution of a restaurant which takes you back to Paris in the twenties, near Bastille, perfect for family gatherings or special occasions. With everything from seafood to meat, all was fresh and delicious.

Standard French bistro cuisine. There are 1000 better places to go food wise. Good atmosphere and service.

Food was very good, service very fri3ndly, and above all the 19th century decor of this typical parisian brasserie, with wooden panels and stained glass ceiling is really fantastic

The food was really delicious and the set menus excellent value. The Belle Epoque setting stunning. But Bofinger knows its status, its 150 year history, its importance as a draw for visitors so has a certain Parisian 'hauteur' which isn't as welcoming as a dozen other restaurants in the area. So rather old-fashioned in a way. Mistakes in the order and the bill were corrected without fuss but without apology either.

Make sure you ask for a table on the ground floor. So much more fun and the wait staff is on their mark.

It is a traditionally popular restaurant in Paris, which I had enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately yesterday's experience was not as good. The onion soup remains probably the best Inhave had, but to eat only that after been siting at the table for 1 hour and 40 minutes woukd disappoint even the most patient. The remaining dishes we had were nice, but nothing to write home about. In the end 3 hours were too much for everyone.

Very good food however service was disappointing. Waiter made mistake after mistake and had to be constantly corrected. Staff somewhat 'abrupt' but hey, it's a Paris brasserie! Despite the rough spots, still a good resto...

Everything was superb. Staff attentive and pleasant. Food portions huge, couldn't finish it all. Had choucroute.

Service was good and the food was very delicious apart from a couple of dishes came cold (Mains of Saddle of lamb). Upstairs not as attractive a dining area as downstairs, but we had children, so I think it was fair that we were out of the main area.

Words dont do the food and service justice. It was exceptional! I had the scallops... To die for. My husband had the frankfurter and kraut. He loved it. Friends had the French onion soup that was the best I've tried and I've tried lots. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere in the main room was wonderful. I would recommend this to everyone.
