Wondered if in the right place on arrival. Quickly recognized we were on a winner. Friendly and excellent service. Superb and interesting cooking. Full and helpful explanation to fully understand the ingredients. Really good fun and an excellent evening.
we've been the 2nd time here. they seem now more established as before, food is still rock and roll, but maybe a bit less adventurous as before. we started with a homemade cornbread, going over a cold soup to some fish and squid, then we got a nice rice with rabbit followed by a meet croquette, followed by two sweet courses, ending with a sip of some "schnaps". we choose the wine pairing, here some wines were good some less...but a nice panorama what you can get (the wines were very natural, but rather simple). for the price you get a lot of very good food: if you are open for new combinations then this is the place to go. we will come again when hopefully again in lisbon in the next coming years.
We really enjoyed the wine and food tasting menu. Every dish but one was interesting, flavorful and well-presented. A substitution was made for a quail dish which was replaced by French toast. This was baffling to me and I did not enjoy the dish. Everything else was wonderful. Be aware that Uber’s cannot get to this restaurant since it is in a restricted zone, so you need to take a taxi.
Boi-Cavalo offers a unique experience of flavours with an unusual combination of ingredients in a set menu. One of the best cuisines in Lisbon! Totally recommend if you’re into a diffferent kind of experience superbly crafted.
One of the most creative restaurants in Lisbon. It was my 3rd visit and the unexpected combinations never cease to surprise me. Brilliant table for those willing to try an out of the box dinning experience. I
Small but cosy. Really nice atmosphere with open kitchen and very good timing all over the dinner experience. It was not the first time and we will be back for sure.
Great!! We tried the tasting menu and the combination of flavours adapted to the concept and mainly the season was spectacular. Each dish complemented the previous one, perfectly. The explanation of each dish by the staff was a plus adding their profesionalism. Very nice environment. An experience to repeat!
Phenomenal food. Unusual elements, varied, clever, and not "internationalized" but instead real Portugal -- bravo! Charming and knowledgable waiter, and excellent vine too. This restaurant is a solid "foodie" place, comparable to the best places in the USA, especially Oregon.
This small and cosy restaurant is really a gem It has a modern and fresh ambiance and the service is very friendly and attentive We had the menu with wine arrangement and it was more than fabulous! Original dishes and beautiful local wines Everything breathes love for food Super!
I'm so glad to have found this restaurant. It's an absolute gem! Definitely worth a visit. It's a short walk from the metro but it's well worth it. Check it out!
Martin our server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Dishes were full of flavor , mixing textures in a fun and unique way as well as combining unusual flavors. A very pleasant meal. Highly recommended.
A place for foodies looking for something different and keen to experiment with different and often unconventional tastes. The team needs to put more effort into the desert - what we had on the menu was not great.
We absolutely loved the place. The food was unbelievably great, a special treat in Lisboa which already has great food. We really enjoyed the american punk and metal music being played over the speakers, music I grew up on!! Highly recommended if visiting Lisboa.
I'm sorry, I don't talk French but I would like to give a comment in English: For us (my husband and me) it was a very, very fascinating evening- we liked everything. The interior, the music ( amongst others Foo Fighters and Velvet Underground!) but most of all the very nice service (she explained everything to us!) and the unbelievable very, very good food. Thank you for everything!
The one word that comes to mind is “Bizarre”. Bizarre does not necessarily mean bad (the desert was nice, for instance), but in this case it was. Very strange and VERY questionable combinations in the plate. If I didn’t feel bad for spending >60 euro per person, I would have said “very bad combinations”. Fish heads were just bad: there was very little meat, and the one that was there was overcooked. The bread with baked burrata was just a bad combination, period. But the desert was good and service was good. We were full at the end of 7-course dinner, but we had to have some pastel de nata afterwards. And don’t even get me started on the ambiance (that loud music was just bad, bad, bad) and the awful wines that were served as part of wine pairing. Service was nice... Overall, the whole experience reminded me of one of those movies that is so bad, it’s almost good. Don’t go.
Great wine pairing. Personally thought the food was a bit pricy for what you got. We did enjoy all the dishes but nothing blew us away except the desert.
It is a very small restaurant with tight seating. Pairing of the wine was inadequate. The food was disappointing. The service was well intended but average. Overall experience was disappointing.
Imaginately served food that tickled the tast buds.
Nothing special - food was ok, but nothing extraordinary. They are definitely better restaurants in Lisbon for this price. You have to spend 140€ with wine for 2 persons - so it’s nothing special
It was a tasting menu with a difference. The team created such interesting dishes with great depth of flavours, all local and seasonal sourced food. It was the right combination of meat and fish dishes ending on a sweet dish, that you didn’t feel too over faced with too much food. Our waiter was very attentive and recommend some very interesting & delicious local wines. I would definitely recommend booking a meal.
