This classic French restaurant was a find in Sydney! The food was superb, the service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable for an inner Sydney restaurant of this calibre. Get out and support this gem of a place!

I’ve had many a divine dinner here, but the waiter had an attitude beyond outrageous. I finished my cocktail, and promptly left. I’ve never been spoken to in such a fashion in a restaurant before. I was so looking forward to my meal as I hadn’t been in quite a while. A $12 sandwich was not quite what I was intending for dinner. Rude guy will cost this business, it certainly cost mine. Shame for someone who eats out 5-6 times a week. Sorry Lisa.

Access via secret door off back lane behind Stanley Street, down stairs lined with rows of bottles of wines, past enclosed kitchen into small cosy room indluding a small bar. Seated quickly with a warm welcome, advised understaffed and handed menu's and sparkling water. Was greeted by the Chef Lisa, whom took wine order. We were totally aware that service would take a while longer than normal, fine with that. Entrees were served; Duck Ravioli was out of this world, 2 large Ravioli, cooked to perfection covered in the most delicious sauce. Chicken Parfait was tasty, well presented. Mains; lamb two ways with pomme frittes and truffle aioli was sensational! Beef two ways with Paris Mash the meat melting in the mouth, the jus was insanely tasty and the mash was perfect. Dessert; Creme Brulee fluffy creamy custard superbly cooked with the caramelised sugar top cracking well when broken open. Cheese platter for one of various cheese and crackers, yummy. Offered complimentary dessert wine. Had a great evening, well beyond expectations, amazing experience, the food and service outstanding and tha ks Chef Lisa for the chat on our way out.

We hv been to this restaurant once before and were v happy to return. Despite staff shortages food was excellent and service impeccable. 2 hour sitting plenty of time for 3 courses. Did forget 1 drink order so got a complimentary dessert wine as compensation. My Prosecco and orange was 2/3 orange as requested and they offered me a 2 nd at no charge. Would recommend Bon Vin to anyone. Quiet and lovely ambience.

Our first time at Bon Vin and the great Fork reviews were backed up by a beautiful sophisticated romantic ambience, excellent service from Sandy, and an exquisite meal that exceeded our hopes. Wow, what a find! Straight to our favourites list. Thank you

Very impressed with this restaurant. It was quiet enough that we could talk but busy enough to be alive. Food was excellent as was the service of our very knowledgeable waiter. Loved it!!!

Hidden in a back street of Darlinghurst, Bon Vin is a gem and never disappoints. Highlight and a must is the duck ravioli, but to be honest there isn’t a bad dish on the menu. The atmosphere is intimate, the staff are helpful and friendly. Don’t forget to hello to the chef on the way out.

The wait for the food was a little bit longer than one would want, but considering it was just the one (very dedicated, very considerate) chef working, it was totally fine. The restaurant offered a dedicated keto menu which was wonderful and the chef personally came out to discuss dietary requirements, and made adjustments to the menu and the dishes based on the discussions. It was truly exceptional service. The steak tartare was incredible and so was the steak. I highly recommend Bon Vin, it was just such a lovely experience from start to finish.

Been there twice. Found it on searching romantic & secret restaurants in city and east. Music, atmosphere, food excellent. Have recommended to many friends. Well locates, smaller, not noisy and is cosy. Perfect for couples.

We found this restaurant on-line by accident when looking for somewhere close to a concert venue we were attending. It was a lovely surprise- v French bistro in atmosphere and menu, attentive service and good wine list; it’s also incredibly good value. We thought the bread let it down (I’ve had better from the supermarket) and it really didn’t reflect the quality of the food otherwise. Overall, we’d recommend it and will go again.

Great ambience and service. The food was good but not one I would rave about. That being said, I can't applaud their service enough. We were given time to think about menu decisions, time to really catch up with our fellow dinner guests without feeling rushed and they even went to the effort of having Birthday song and candle to celebrate my friend's birthday

Excellent value for money. Food was delicious. Wine pairings were perfect and very good quality. If I was to be picky, the only thing I could fault was the service. I had to ask for the waitress to bring us drinks after we’d been there for about 15min. I had to ask again to order our food. It came quickly and was delicious. Great ambience. Amazing value for money.

Fantastic restaurant tucked away subtly down a set of stairs. Food was delicious, and service was timed well. The waiters and waitress always topped up the water. The walls of wine were interesting to look at.
