About the restaurant Botin

"Located in Madrid de los Austrias, this restaurant was founded in 1725 and is considered the oldest in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records. It was built on an old cellar from the 16th century with vaulted ceilings and is now a classic and a benchmark of traditional cuisine in Madrid.

Its Spanish and Castilian cuisine feature traditional recipes that have been passed from parents to children that are elaborated in the most natural and artisan way. Highlights include its suckling pig and lamb roasted in its ancient wood-fired oven.

It is definitely a warm place where the customer is treated with all the warmth and friendliness they deserve and that is typical of this restaurant that has been faithfully serving its guests for nearly three centuries."

Two large tour groups elbowed their way into the place and were extremely noisy!!!!
Ruined what could have been a nice atmosphere for lunch.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch! Food was tasty and the oldy worldy atmosphere was nice too, although we would have preferred to sit upstairs.

It's the Disneyland of must eats in Madrid. Touristico+++ Did it because we had to, everyone was lovely but it's meat and tourist factory. Glad we did it, but only because we had enough days, otherwise would eat elsewhere.
