Fruits de mer: really good,
Normal meal: a little to much oil or fat.

The brasserie is quite central in Calais. The premises are nice and the personnel are welcoming and quick. The problem lies within the kitchen. We ordered some simple mussel dishes which you can get in almost all France at a decent quality. Unfortunately what we got was tasteless, seriously under-seasoned and the sauces were undercooked. Bland, bland, bland. Fortunately we ordered a great wine to compensate this disappointment. The prices are moderate (30 euros with the wine) but again you get this elsewhere for far less and tasting much much better

Excellent value for money, warm welcome from Maitre d'H though we are only occasional clients. Food is very good, nicely presented, imaginative, tasteful, decor and atmosphere are authentic.. Good wines. Central location
Strongly recommended

We found the restaurant cold. We went specifically for moule frites - I chose the mariniere sauce, my husband chose the cream and garlic. We were disappointed as mine arrive with 2cm of sauce in the bottom of the dish which was bland and under seasoned. My husband had plenty of sauce but it was very thin with little cream or garlic. The frites were ok. We had to ask for bread which was 3 shop type rolls. Wouldn’t recommend.

The large restaurant was very quiet but pleasant enough. Other diners were sharing splendid seafood platters. I had a new version starter a sort of scallop crumble. Then I just wanted a classic moules et frites. A bucketful of moules arrived looking great and a pile of golden chips. Sadly both were woefully devoid of flavour.

Good meal with pleasant service, I especially enjoyed the tuna.

The atmosphere was quiet to start because we were sat outside but it picked up later on (about 8:30).

Especially great to find a place that allows dogs.

Excellent food, service and ambience. What more could you ask for after quiet a late Chanel tunnel crossing, so a massive bonus to find this wonderful place still serving food at 11pm. Well worth a visit.

At the end of 2 weeks in France this was easily the worst meal we had. The menu appears interesting but the execution not really very good. Best part of the meal was the fish soup starter but even then it seemed like a ready made soup rather than something a chef has made.
