We were a little disappointed with Le Sud. I ordered a la carte and the food was very good but the rest of my party didn't enjoy their meals from the set menu. The seasonal salad was poor, the tomatoes and other vegetables seemed far from fresh. The swordfish steak which they ordered was also quite bland. The service was mediocre. The waiter we had was very pleasant but just too busy to serve us properly. A few of the glasses on our table were also chipped. Lastly, when we spoke to the manager to draw his attention to the various issues we'd had, he really didn't seem very interested and actually didn't even apologise. We won't be going back.
Food was mediocre at best but the mojito was fantastic.
My Moroccan chicken with lemon commit was tough. The couscous was ordinary; not as good as the couscous I've had in Morocco. It was a quarter of a chicken but just the dark meat. That was alright with me but I thought it was unusual since that was not mentioned in the menu or when I asked for a description.
Quality of food and presentation were very good, but the service and overall experience left us wanting. When we entered, the restaurant was not very busy and our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. As it got busier we noticed that our waiter seemed to be managing an inordinate number of tables and consequently the relationship we had begun with our server evaporated and at several points in the meal we had to struggle to catch someone's ( anyone's!) eye to ask the whereabouts of the next course ( since we had been waiting quiet some time since the completion of our preceding one). It saddened me that I had to share a special dinner with my wife beside young men with t-shirts and/or baseball caps on their heads. All in all, it was a very nice meal that lacked the ambience and quality of service that I would have expected from this kind of establishment.
The expectations when going to a restaurant belonging to Paul Bocuse were not fulfilled.
very nice location and ambience, friendly staff and good food!
A great Paul Bocuse take on a French Brasserie. Well above typical brasserie quality at a fair price. A clean, breezy atmosphere. Glad I tried it.
Absolutely delicious! Great experience as the staff was welcoming and attentive. Order the 3 or 2 plate menu of the day... you won't be disappointed.
Overrated. Food just was not good
Over rated restaurant, the chef/restaurant has sold out for volume rather than individual dish quality. The main came too quickly then we were ignored by the staff. The food was good but we were expecting better from the reviews.
The food was great. It was a shame it was let down by impersonal, uncaring service.
Very disappointing restaurant. How can the great chef Paul Bocuse own such a mediocre place? An embarrassment, so late in his life.
The waiters were very/too fast and hurried, the rest was perfect
First time I felt rushed at any meal in Lyon, the manager was hovering around constantly checking if we were done or ready for the next course.
Wonderful meal. Great selection of foods and wine. Excellent service. Reasonable value.
Firstly the restaurant is set in a beautiful setting with the park in front and the river nearby . We were well received and given our table facing the park . Although there was no English menu, all the waiters could explain the menu to us in English. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they had a very affordable set menu for dinner, and mist of us ordered that. The service was good and comparable to most fine dining restaurants
Good food well cooked and nicely presented in a comfortable restaurant.
Excellent meal with crisp and efficient, professional service. Good value for good and wine of this quality
Absolutely excellent for everything
good menu and wines, would come again.
