10/10Just a terrific restaurant, excellent food, service and ambience along with a pleasant and helpful staff. We have eaten here at least 6 times during our group of four’s, one month stay in Talloires and it quickly became our dependable, go to local eatery. It was our favorite in town. The lac perch preparation was the best, even better than anything I had in Lyon, loved the vitello tonnato as well. Plus, it’s probably the only restaurant in France with French comedy skits running on a loop on a TV in the toilette.

10/10We are staying nearby for a month and have already eaten at Cafe de la Place five times! The food is excellent, the ambience warm and inviting. After our first visit they knew who we were and were calling us by name. The restaurant is filled with locals and it feels like country France all the time. Do not miss this terrific restaurant.

6.5/10The service was bad this time. Forgot everything. We used to love visiting it when we are in Talloires but this time it made us doubt to go back. Food was good, just the service had a day off.

10/10Such a gem of a traditonal French restaurant. Amazing food, beautiful and cozy atmosphere and overall delicious wine. They made my son's birthday extra special with dessert and candles. We LOVED this place!

10/10We cannot recommend or rate this little bistro highly enough. We happened across it on a rainy evening and we were so glad they could fit us in. It’s a real locals place with a great buzz and fabulous food. It was so good we went back again (and we were only staying in the village for 2 days), which we really never do.

2/10I arrived on time at 8pm but the proprietor refused to accept my reservation even when I showed him the email confirming the reservation.He was very rude and offhand but eventually put us in a corner table under a large fan which literally nearly blew your head off.When asked politely to turn the fan off,he shouted “No” and turned away-we left!! I have no idea what the food is like but if you want to experience French hospitality at its worst, this would be a good place to visit. Beware!! Phillip Ford 10/7/23

3/10This restaurant was highly recommended to us and we were excited to make a reservation there. We were ushered to a seat and were then quickly asked if we had made a choice. After ordering a glass of wine we made our choices but again I felt like we were being rushed. The server and maître D were impatient with us it seemed. I do speak French so I tried as best as I could. I ordered the Croque Monsieur but it wasn’t what I thought it would be. The bread was mushy and tasteless. My partner ordered the salmon after being talked out of the perch. He was really disappointed as the serving was small and tasted just “ok”. It was not a good meal and we were disappointed as it’s very rare to have a bad meal in France. I am sorry to write this review but the food was not satisfying, the service was rushed, and we simply did not get our money’s worth. And we’re not treated respectfully. Thank you.

6/10Service was a little disappointing. Waiter was largely disinterested, although other waiters seemed more attentive. The lemon meringue pie looks incredible but was quite underwhelming. It’s a good place but not quite what we were hoping for

2.5/10Lack of organization had us eating cold, unappetizing food over an hour and a half after we ordered. Four servers should not be running around serving the entire restaurant—it seems clear that the space should be divided into sections, with one person covering each section, instead of all the servers serving all of the tables. Our food sat under the heat lamp in the kitchen for 10 minutes while the chef and the servers argued about the tables. I can tell the restaurant has a good atmosphere and some locals, but I would not recommend it.

3.5/10Felt not welcome here. The recommended dish was not available despite being on chalk boards and us being first to arrive for evening service. My wife ordered steak but it was not well cooked (the pan / grill cannot have been hot enough and so it was more stewed as well as being cold by the time it got to her. The cream on the cake was that I was told that the Internet wasn't available for my visa card and I had to pay cash, despite me seeing other people paying by card before me. Extremely disappointed as the other reviews were OK and we were looking forward to our meal. My wife just thought that we were not liked and she is a pretty good judge of character. Not sure what we did to get this level of service though as we are not fussy customers at all.
