About the restaurant Caminetto d'Oro

Very tasty food, quick and friendly service, warm ambience. Only negative was a very noisy fellow diner whom the staff should have asked to calm down as she was disturbing many other guests.

Restaurant was recommended for authentic Bolognese food.
Many locals were there and maybe because are tourists the service was indifferent.
No Parmesan offered for the tagliatelle bolognese!

Nice place serving typical foods of Bologna. The menu is not expensive. The wine list is extensive and has many gems, but is expensive.

Shared a cured meat platter and tagliatelle bolognese. Then had the leg of lamb special; mother had the gnocchi with baby squid. Panna cotta for dessert. Glass of Sangiovese and limoncello at the end. Total came up to 93 Euros. All the dishes were delicious and overall good value for money. Wine is only served by the glass or bottle; there’s no option for carafes of house wine.

My partner & I chose the set menu as we thought it would let us sample seasonal food that represented the region. A starter of insalata di zucchini, was amazing, fresh, amazing cheese and vinaigrette, following by delicious tagliatelle Alla Bolognese. Unfortunately the main dish , a polpettone was inedible, Perhaps I am being a little harsh but whilst other courses were fresh and inviting, this dish totally missed the mark. Staff professional, warm inviting environment, just a little mystified re the polpettone. My apologies if this is a traditional interpretation of a Bolognese polpettone.

I really enjoyed the service, food and wine. The staff took a while to find the right wine, but it was execellent once they did, and the artichoke salad, pasta with bread crumbs and apple pie dessert was delicious. Very nice experience!

The food was exceptional. We had the Bolognese Tagliatelle, roasted lamb shoulder and an ice cream desert. All were excellent!

I had a really disappointing meal with my husband and two friends on Monday evening. Everything was at least 30-50% too expensive, plus portions were small (apart from chicken liver pate and the bollito misto), and nothing tasted particularly good. In addition, we had to ask for wine/water service, then to order, and then again for the food. The meal took over three hours, with long waits, and then dull food. Two starters, of seasonal porcini and ovoli (I think correct word), were tiny, and €20 each. Pasta was average. My lamb dish was a small piece of probably roasted lamb (grey, not pink), with an almost British style gravy.
Wine markups were full for Italy, but probably okay for an upmarket restaurant.
Our bill was €220, for four two course meals, plus two desserts, two bottles of wine, coffees. (We had a far better meal on Tuesday evening, €180 for top quality, fresh food, good wine.)
Such a shame: Bologna is known for having the best food in Italy - this was way off the mark.

Very hit-or-miss with dishes. Fish was good, pork was dry and under-seasoned. Tagliatelle Bolognese was also under-seasoned and mediocre. Salami was good.

Delicious pasta dishes and the semifreddo pudding was perfect. A little quiet and needed to be careful chatting as only one other couple and could hear each other's conversations!

We went because of the wine list and was not disappointed! Unfortunately due to a late lunch we weren't really hungry and was only able to eat a mix of salumi which was excellent and a T-Bone grilled with sallad on the side. Excellent meat! perhaps a little unimaginative sallad- but tasty and fresh. Great wine suggestion and we ended the evening with cheese and a chockolat dessert.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant when you visit Bologna. Make sure you make a reservation and come hungry.
