What can I say? This place is amazing, a 360 degree over beautiful Amsterdam, delicious food, dimmed lights and super friendly staff.
But I must highlight the service. The crew was super relaxed, really friendly and not at all afraid to stand by our table and have a laugh. The drinks (we sure had enough ;)) were delicious and the vibe was nice. You could see that the staff enjoyed working here, which made the guests feel good.
Food was really tasty as well. Just ingredients on the menu, which I thought was a nice change. Every restaurant should give the cook his creative freedom when cooking.

Yesterday I had dinner at Canvas and it was truly fantastic! I had the wild boar as a starter which was very nice complemented with the sweet potato. As a main course the Bavette was again a true winner. My dinner companion had two other dishes (coquille and ossobuco) and also for him it was a great experience. The food, drinks in combination with the great service and decor made it a wonderful dining experience!

I never do reviews but the food was so bad that I decided to do one for Canvas.
The only thing that this place has going for it is the view.
We had the salmon sandwich and a Canvas burger.
First of all the service; We were waiting for more then 30 minutes for the food, then when we asked how much longer it was going to take, they apologised and said 10 more minutes. From this I assume that the order was never placed and that they just rushed it through as we were waiting for so long already. We did get some complimentary drink to be fair, but this does not take the frustration away for me.
Once we received the food it was really bad. The salmon sandwich was ok, nothing special (two slices of bread, some salad, some dressing and smoked salmon), but the burger.. was really awful. I don't know if it was the meat or the sauce/ketchup that they put on it, but it definitely was strange tasting. And then the fries that came with the burger. Truly disgusting. It was pure oil. Don't know how long fries should stay in the fryer (4-5 minutes)? depends on the fryer I guess but I think these where in there for at least twice the amount they should have been.
I don't know how the rest of the food is there, but because of the service and this experience I am definitely never going to eat there again.

This is a restaurant with a great view and a good atmosphere but not much privacy. However, the staff was kind enough to let the two of us sit at a table designated for 3 at the back window. Good thing too because the food barely fit on the table. After reading the reviews about the staff I was surprised at how nice and attentive they actually were. Downright charming. But then the outdoor terrace wasn't open because of the rain.

Our duck appetizer was delicious but barely enough. We then had the meat dish for two which was very tasty and more than enough but took forever to get to the table... slow food, very slow food... too slow. Wine is expensive and the rose wasn't very good even after they brought me a new glass because the first was no longer good. Granted it wasn't rose weather.

All in all probably best to drink one of their gorgeous cocktails in their hip indoor lounge area, also with a great view and perhaps order an appetizer or two. Here it's about the feel and not about food.
