6/10Great food as usual but I have no idea what was going on with regard to the service. Despite multiple attempts to attract attention, taking our order was far too slow, waiting staff seemed distracted. Staff tried to clear the table before we had finished. Then trying to get a bill took far too long. Severely tempted to scrub the tip.

10/10The restaurant has an authentic Italian feel with clearly some links to car racing. The wine selection, especially the Italian wines, rivals many.

9.5/10Outstanding food, wine and service. We asked for recommendations for some food and wine (having discussed what we liked), and they could not have been better. I would highly recommend, and will definitely return. Shame that there were not more diners enjoying the treats - but it was a Mon evening!

10/10The quality f the food and choice of wines was very good. With the Italian slant and the clear links to Italian motor sport well worth a meal. It was good to see a busy restaurant in the city.

9.5/10Great food and amazing service, really friendly and helpful. Spot on with the wine advice! I liked the atmosphere and the turnaround was really good for a business lunch. Not too quick or too slow.

10/10The restaurant was lovely, not busy at lunch time but a great find. The food was delicious and they were so good about preparing mine with alternative sides to avoid wheat/dairy allergies. Thank you team! :)

4/10I was a bit embarrassed by lunch yesterday, having invited a couple of clients here for lunch. Despite having booked well in advance we were given a table right at the back on the first floor by a very drafty window with peeling paint. The wine one of my guests chose had run out, my other guest couldn't get their coffee of choice. The food was okay but I did note that no one even got near finishing their main courses which isn't a good sign. I was hoping I'd be able to use this restaurant as a regular venue as it's so convenient and looked good from the outside with smart white tablecloths, but the table and food we had sadly wasn't worth the expensive price tag. Maybe we just got unlucky!

We are sorry to hear that you felt embarrassed for your lunch. If the table was an issue we could have gladly moved you if asked despite being a very busy lunch service. Wines can become unavailable as we do not carry huge stocks and secondly can be out of stock at the supplier too. There is an ample choice of wines on the list and I am sure you were suggested a suitable replacement. From your order I can see that an americano coffee and a fresh mint tea were ordered so not sure what the third coffee would have been. Your main dishes consisted in a ravioli, a risotto sea food and a risotto with pumpkin; these are all dishes which are always complimented by customers therefore the reason for not finishing them could be looked at the possibility of being quiet rich dishes especially the two risotto where a lot of butter is used to whilst them but that is how make risotto. The ravioli has cream in the sauce. Hopefully you will give us another try as the general consensus is not what you described.

9/10Went there for a small, after-work do for the four in our team. We had the chef's special menu which actually turned out to be very nice and pretty good value for money. Drinks prices are at the other end of the scale of course but you'd expect that for where it is. 1 point off for slightly less then attentive service and also that my portion size was way smaller than two of my colleagues who had the same dish. I was the first to finish as it was gone in a few mouthfuls. Worth going there tho, nothing to complain about really..

5.5/10The staff were very friendly. There was a few of us and 2 of us had to wait for our mains after the others had received theirs - 5-minute delay and the service was not very good very slow

9.5/10Caravaggio is a bit of an institution. It’s been there for years and has managed to remain consistently excellent. Great quality traditional Italian fayre. Always a pleasure!

6/10We opted for the pre-order menu, just under £50 pp. To do this we had to pre-order both from the menu and wine list. Which I was prepared to do. The feedback from the guys was that the portions were exceptionally small, even considering the increase in prices (due to the economic crisis). Salmon starter (Stornoway salmon and sea bass gravadlax with rye bread and horseradish crème fraîche) the rye bread was approx 2 inches in diameter (to give you an idea) - Starter cost £12.90. The staff were great; however, I was asked to send all orders ahead of the evening as it was a 'party menu' which I did, together with names of guests. But the waitress took all orders again making that exercise a complete waste of time. It's a shame, but I don't think I will book this restaurant again.

7.5/10First time we've been here. Food was of a good standard but the service could have been a bit better as, for instance, requests for more balsamic to accompany the bread and more water were forgotten. The restaurant was not particularly busy so no excuse really.

Created in homage to a key genius of the Italian Renaissance, Caravaggio is dedicated to gastronomic excellence, aiming to demonstrate the same dedication to quality and innovation in the field of food and drink as the great Italian masters brought to painting and sculpture. Caravaggio is one of the city's most well established fine dining restaurants, offering superb modern Italian cuisine in elegant art deco surroundings.rnrnFormally opened by Luciano Pavarotti in 1996, Caravaggio is the most serious Italian restaurant in the City and a firm favourite with the movers and shakers of the square mile, many of whom are regular customers. Occupying the imposing premises of what was formerly a banking hall, all that remains of the original interior is the ornate high ceiling, with its splendid Art Deco light fittings. The designer Tony Thomas has opened up the space and extended an existing gallery that now runs around the room at mezzanine level, providing a second tier of tables.A long, marble topped bar by the entrance provides a convenient holding area for what is, at lunch times, a very busy dining room and is also popular with single diners, many of whom prefer to eat at the bar.
