About the restaurant Casa Aleixo

Very good! But missed a stater at first, so perhaps not too attentative. Enjoyed main dishes, very generous portions. Appeared to be very touristy at first, but then more locals showed up and everything was more relaxed.

The lovely young man who served us was professional, courteous and attentive. We were impressed when at the end he asked if he could call us a cab - he must have seen that we had arrived in one, very considerate. The hake was so good that my husband (who normally isn't one for fish) regretted having ordered the steak and stole bites off my plate. Note though that the portion size seemed to be for 2, I left half the hake and octopus rice despite his help! Next time e would order that to share plus an appetizer. Enjoyable meal :)

The restaurant was deliciously simple and elegantly traditional. It was wonderful to see the inner workings of the kitchen and the waitstaff were wonderful. The owner even came over to talk to us. Everyone made us feel welcome and everyone spoke English. Come here if you can!

Fantastic restaurant with very traditional but excellent Portuguese dishes. We started off with the Iberico ham chourico. I was impressed with how much care the server took to cut the ham, and it really showed in the taste of the ham. We also had the Queijo de Serra de Estrela cheese with crackers and tomato jam, and that together with the ham was delicious.

The best parts however with the main courses. The bacalhau was super flaky and wonderfully seasoned, and the fried octopus with octopus rice was unlike any octopus I have ever had! The fry was delicate and offered a wonderful texture and taste to the octopus - it was probably the best octopus that I had ever had!

Finally, at the end, we spoke a little bit to the owner who wanted to know how we found the restaurant. He was smiley, friendly, and even gave us a small taste of some dessert that they had made at the restaurant. Absolutely wonderful experience - definitely add this to your list in Porto!
