We have eaten at this restaurant on 3 previous occasions, quality is always consistently high. The atmosphere is very soothing, with lots of greenery about.

Started with local fizz - very good. Progressed to red local wine, very good, medium body and soft tannins.

Shrimp pate for me and smoked salmon for the partner. Both were good and adequate portions.

Mains were a trio of beef, veal and pork for me, with runner beans and potatoes, all good and nothing overpowering. Partner had Scabbard fish with banana, perfectly cooked fish and a banana which went well with the dish, a local specialty.

Boring me had cheeses, which were fine, but served with small rounds of toasted bread, rather than biscuits. Partner had a chocolate dessert which was said to be excellent.

Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, we are here again next Sunday!

Well presented tasty food. We had chateaubriand which was very tender. Nice crunchy vegetables and tasty cubed potatoes.

Superb resturant and staff. Brilliant food at a fair price . Went twice and also went their sister resturant which was to the same high standard.

Dined here for the first time the week before last whilst on a two week holiday in Madeira. Having taking note of previous diners comments thought it was worth a try but came away disappointed. A number of the staff were surly and not in the least welcoming. Some of the tables were so close together one was nearer to a stranger than the person who was accompanying you. No atmosphere. Food average. Will not be on my list of restaurants to re-visit.

Lovely restaurant with great food at a fair price. All the dishes we had were well prepared from fresh ingredients. Despite being very busy our waiter looked after us well. Would definitely recommend. Intend to return during our stay in Funchal.

Flies unfortunately we're out that night. This was not normal according to waiters. Food very good. White wine not particularly cold. Table next to us also had to wait quite a long time for ice bucket to chill the wine enough.

That was a disaster! We chose the place bared on the reviews and couldn't have been more disappointed. ...
The food was bad, the wine was too warm, the desert couldn't have been worse... disaster!
We took carpaccio of swordfish - was OK, too much water though
For main we had scallops and duck - horrible! Scallops were just boiled and covered with tons of souce, duck was supposed to be medium rare - came well done.
It's a shame the bill arrived for 90€ and we didn't have 1 pleasant moment of that dinner!
Would never go back!

Nice setting, romantic atmosphere on the terrasse in the middle of a garden. Excellent traditional Madeirian food served by very friendly waiters. The food was definitely worth it. Each time we're in Madeira, we're having dinner in the Casa Velha, because we book it even months in advance. Definitely worth a visit!

Meat kebab and pork fillets so so tender. The fish kebab was full of flavour. Sat on the very pretty terrace and the service was good.

Old school in a good way. Lovely food and outstanding service. Sword fish carpaccio and fish soup were particularly good.

I had booked a table for two in advance so not to be disappointed on arrival. We were greeted by the staff who were immaculately dressed and incredibly attentive our needs. All the food was presented well and delicious. Wine menu was reasonable and well stocked. We had a bottle red wine. I had Onion soup au Gratin ( very nice) for starter. Supreme Duck with green peppers and cooked to medium as I asked for (mains). Crepe Suzette for sweet was very nice.
My husband had gone all 1970's. The prawn cocktail was very well presented and delicious. The Steak Diane was very tender and to die for. The Creme Brulee was although a little curdled was very tasty.

We had eaten there three times whilst on holiday and was never disappointed.

Charming restaurant. We had the fish stew & scabard flambé in champagne. Both delicious & vegetables cooked to perfection. Great service, I would go again, very reasonably priced.

Authentic and charming Potugese food. Fish was fantastic. Flambé was great. Service was perfect. At least 50% of those who left the restaurant booked for follow up dinners!
