Weekly we choose a new restaurant to try & this time we selected Casella 18 for lunch. The service, location & setting were lovely, but the food was mediocre. I had a gnocchi with artichokes & speck & the pasta was tough (good gnocchi, to me, melts in your mouth it's so light) & my meal was fairly flavorless, almost like in a light broth with pieces of artichoke & strips of speck. I didn't even finish the dish because I didn't enjoy it enough. My son had a pasta with salsicca & same story here-- fairly bland & in a broth type sauce. I had a glass of house red & I typically prefer a bolder wine & this was soft & also fairly flavorless. The homemade bread & olive oil were excellent. There's also a very limited menu & I chose this restaurant after seeing a yummy & robust menu online. All in all, we would not return as we were very underwhelmed with our dishes.

The food was ok but not special. We went there because of the highly recommended pizza but on Sunday evening they only serve a small selection of pizzas as we have been told by the waitress who was very friendly. This was rather disappointing. My husband went for the rabbit which was quite dry. The Pizza Magaritha DOP was ok. We really enjoyed the atmosphere.

A very kind waitress and a nice restaurant but the food was disappointing. Pasta was undercooked, the ricotta sausage was OK. Pizza was OK but nowhere near as good as in any other places. Pork steak was rather chewy and the filled rabbit was a disaster with bone fragments. The wine was terrible and this was the first place where we did not get bread. The only really nice thing was the fried potato, very fresh, very hot and especially tasty. Meager consolation...

Service was outstanding. Waitor made us taste all the wine for us to choose the one we wanted. We took a gaspacho to share as an entry and the chief put it in two plates which was very kind. The gaspatcho was really good. The main dish (fresh pasta with red pesto) and dessert (creme brulée) were also good. Would come back if had the chance to visit Firenze again.

We went to Casella 18 at our first night in Florence. This authentic Italian place is located in a pleasantly cosy alley in the city centre. The staff is extremely friendly and, not unimportantly for us, speaks good English. The food is good and very affordable. Moving on to the things they can improve upon; they had a wide variety of starters and desserts, however the main dishes were all meat based. Not to worry, the pastas included multiple vegetarian options (my fiancée is a pescatarian and she liked her pasta very much). However, if you are looking forward to eating some good fish, then this is probably not the place for you, as they didn’t have many, if any, fish dishes. To summarise, great place with a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff!

We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation but we were seated rather quickly and attended to with no issue. I had to ask to change tables because we were right by a window where other diners were smoking outside but this was also quickly solved. The service was impeccable, the waiters very friendly and personable and very happy to give us recommendations. The location is also pretty Central, easy to find and easy to get to as just 4 minutes walk from the Duomo. Definite recommendation for the service, quality of the food and the price. The only thing I didn't like so much for my pizza was the inclusion of frankfurters on a 4 salami topping. Not sure if this is normal in Italy but it threw off the taste for me somewhat.

This restaurant was a great find! The pasta was some of the best we’ve had in Florence, and the service was brilliant as well. Would highly recommend.

Full of rustic, simple charm; an unspoilt gem in the heart of Florence that won't break the bank!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was cozy and beautiful. We ordered the endive antipasta and loved it. We each ordered a pasta dish: my husband had the ravioli and I had the spaghettoni. The pasta itself was handmade and delicious. We both thought the dishes tasted good, though not the best we've had in Italy. The tiramisu for dessert was delicious!

Small restaurant, very nice atmosphere, food was very good (best of our travel in Firenze). Prices are not expensive at all. Very nice experience. Thank you for the nice moment

The meals were delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasing. The only negative was right after they served our salads they they brought out our main entree, so we felt rushed.

Everything about this restaurant was superb; ambiance, and food. Their greatest asset is their staff. We were welcomed at the door by the owner and a very attentive staff took care of our every need throughout the evening. I will come back in a heartbeat the next time I visit Florence.

Friendly greeting and exceptional food. The carbonara was amazing and the tiramisu very moreish. It was packed with locals (which is always a good sign) and was the best meal of our stay in Florence.
