Food was great, setting excellent. Everyone was very nice, except that when the kind couple next to us gave us their bottle of wine, which still had a bit left, the server took it off our table and whisked it away and she refused to let us drink it. Otherwise everything was terrific.
Due to circumstances, I was unable to make my reservation, alas I am very sorry. However, I was able to walk-in the next day and enjoy one of the most classic French meals I have had. Foie Gras du Canard du Maison, Sole Meunière and tarte tatin. A wonderful bottle of wine, excellent service and a happy walk back to my hotel.
Returning to this place after 20 years, it has not changed. Good memories of excellent food in great atmosphere are still alive. Real Paris for connaisseurs.
Lovely lunch! Good was fabulous, Service paced just right. Server was helpful & friendly. Thank you
Always wonderful to visit!
Chez Georges is a Paris institution: a classic brassiere frequented by locals as well as foreign visitors. All the traditional dishes are on the menu, and they are expertly prepared. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is fabulous. The dining room gives you an idea of this great institution’s history. The steak frites and profiteroles are incomparable, but you probably can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Enjoy!
A favorite restaurant for 40 years but this time the server was in a hurry and rushed every aspect. We live in Paris and speak French but she seemed in a rush to finish her service and leave. Inappropriate for an expensive restaurant. But the meal was wonderful and will return as we have for years
I don't know how to say it in French but if I did I’d say “Run don't walk”. Amazing food and service. I will say the seating is as tight as an place in Paris or more so, but it also affords you a glimpse at what everyone else ordered. Portions were generous and we ate every bite. Oh and finish with the Napoleon.
The salad was very overdressed. The duck was nice. It would have been so nice if the waitress could have described the cheeses on our cheese sampler. Crowded and hard not to hear other conversations on both sides.
Chez Georges was recommended to us by several people. They all raved about it and we now join them as “raving fans” of Chez Georges. We were greeted like welcomed guests and our party of six was seated immediately. Our party ordered salmon, veal, foil gras, scallops and lamb. All were prepared expertly and presented beautifully. We had difficulty making a dinner reservation, but lunch was a special treat.
Excellent tout simplement!
Great classic brasserie
Excellent! J'adore ce restaurant!
i have being to this restaurant before for dinner and it had a very nice atmosphere and the quality of food above average. i decided to come back this time for lunch. the food wasn't so great and i found it a bit expensive for the quality. service though was still good
The place was lovely and the good was good. The only problem was that we only wanted a light lunch with a starter and 2 salads. The waitress said no and that we had to at least share a plat which we did.
Very disappointed with Chez George this time! I had an amazing lunch there 3 years ago - and was eager to repeat this time as I loved this hidden gem of old-fashioned French hospitality. Alas, I will not be back. The dishes were only OK (served without a single leaf of salad and a mountain of fries that nobody asked for), the service was at times rude (the waitress at the table next to ours made nasty comments in French about the order she was receiving from the two tourists girls) and the bill was a surprise (4 euro for an espresso and 6 euro for a small beer).
We had lunch reservations while in Paris on a very rainy day and were very happy when welcomed by the staff and the savory, delicious food. Picked Cafe Georges after reading Ina Garten's suggestions for a few of her favorite places in Paris.
Ya habíamos estado la última vez que vinimos a Paris. Sigue igual de bueno y agradable. Arenques en aceite con patatas!!
Delicious food, attractive Brasserie and not too noisy!
