About the restaurant Chez Grand-Mère

The food and service really was wonderful! - our only issue was one we contributed to as well as our boisterous table neighbours - we were all equally loud conversationalists in that lovely cellar, which made it impossible to have a quiet conversation. In hindsight, we should have tried to arrange for a more private area.

I made a reservation for 7:30pm and we were late but they still kept our table for us. The atmosphere was really cool like in a cave or bomb shelter-good vibes. The French onion soup was very good compared to other restaurants here and the lamb shank was delicious! Even the potatoes had great flavor. The volcano chocolate cake was a fantastic finish. Pricing was very reasonable and the service was exceptional which is tough to get in Lyon.

Food is real home cooking. I would have preferred potatos instead of noodles with the boeuf bourgignion. The noodles were homemade and not from a package. That said however, it was quite good. Patton, a very large MaineCoon cat will welcome you and he is a delight.
