The Jazz was wonderful which is why we went but the food was disappointing.
We had a really enjoayble, pleasant evening - great venue, good food, friendly service, and jazz.
Excellent atmosphere. The wine and warm appetizer (sea fruit pastry) was amazing. The cod fish was not seasoned at all which was disappointing. The jazz duo was wonderful. Beautiful location and excellent staff.
the singer and the pianist were very good though they should perform a little more. Food can be better. He had a very pleasant night
Lovely venue. Excellent music. Mediocre food.
Dish quality was a bit disappointing, mainly scallop too much salted, basmati rice too much cooked. Candle light ont the table could barely help read the menu. Friendly staff, soft music, the atmosphere was really good
very fast service - the steak was slightly tough
The setting and the music were quite nice, the prawns were the worst I've ever had. They were pre frozen, cooked within an inch of there life so they were nice and tough, and improperly seasoned.. As an accompaniment to this $30 + gourmet extravaganza I was treated to a pile of cold sticky white rice. I have made my one and only visit to Chez Papa. Oh...I almost forgot the waitress was totally clueless, a nice young lady but she should pursue a different career path, when I asked for a very well known after dinner drink she was like a deer in the headlights. She was not even willing to ask another member of the wait staff or the owner that was sitting in a chair 10 feet from our table fast asleep.
Veal was excellent. Duck was a bit chewy but very flavorful
The atmosfere is nice, relatively good food, but they are in a hurry! For a restaurant like this with live music you would like to take your time.
The veal is fantastic! Service was friendly and helpful. Music set the tone for a great evening. Bravo!
Great jazz show.
We love this place! We have been there several times and it’s always a wonderful experience.
There is no more intimate or special place to enjoy jazz in Paris, NYC or San Francisco than Chez Papa Jazz Club. It is a gem from the past, still alive and well.
The music and atmosphere were excellent. However, the food was a huge disappointment. It felt like we were being served by an institutional kitchen (bread that tasted like it was just defrosted, salad with limp iceberg lettuce, over cooked meat, etc). Our suggestion is to come at 10 pm, pay the cover charge for great music, but skip the meal. You will save in the end.
After being in France and Spain for 3 weeks we were ready for something different for our last night Chez Papas was just the ticket. Located in the Latin Quarter close to the Seine we we’re very warmly welcomed and service was tops all night. We were given a choice of several seats - all great view of the musicians. with a complete meal the 12€ cover is waved. Fun Space and great vibe! Food was delicious and not over the top fancy. Reasonably priced, reservation s suggested but may not be required. We will make note to return on our next.trip to Paris!
romantic dinner with live music. booked table for 19:30 , by 21:00 was all full waiting for live music to start. very elegant place, we took one entree and two mains + bottle of wine. 100 euros in total. bit expansie but you would expect this from this kinf of resturant. meat was very tender and well cooked. Waiter has been very kind and also brought a taper for my boyfriend birthday with desert. We would come back again.
The ambiance is lovely. Appreciated that you can find à la carte items. Prawns just didn’t taste fresh, rice ok. Goat cheese could have benefited from better greens, not iceberg. But, the cheese was delicious. I imagine one comes here for the music, and the cover charge is waived with dinner. Just felt food was overpriced for what it was, very mediocre. Lovely front staff
Lovely food, fantastic atmosphere, enjoyable night out.
Superb place. Piano and doublebass concert absolutely wonderful. Some of the food was little disappointing for the price, e.g. the gambas which were close to 30 euros - just 4 of them, with some plain rice and a bit of sauce. However, everything cooked well. The veal and the tarte tatin both excellent. A wonderful atmosphere. Would return.
