This is the best Chinese ever! Delicious food, quick service, and quite big portions. My friends and I had shared three dishes between four people and were full. Also, we found they don't serve soups after 6pm, so we'll definitely go back for lunch once. Highly recommend!

Really helpful getting a table for two in a busy place. Warning 1 pepper is spicy, 2 pepper is already very spicy, so three must be killing. Great and interesting food, we will be back for sure. Place is cosy but tables very close to each other.

Great food! Very spicy - naturally - but there is real subtlety. It’s rather busy in the room but it’s a perfectly pleasant atmosphere.

We book a table trough iens, but they seems like they have no idea bout about this reservation. Service is not so well. Food taste is wonderful, but size of food is less than another 'Sichuan'. No baby chairs!

Three of us ate here on a busy Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. To our western eyes and tastes, the China Si Chuan Kitchen seems to be authentic. Certainly there were a good number of Chinese customers dining there when we arrived. The decor is something of a hotchpotch, but is all the more interesting for that, especially the large frieze of Napoli, which we presume to be a faded relic from the building's former life as a bar or cafe. Unlike most establishments in the Netherlands where service is typically wanting, Chinese restauranteurs understand all too well, as do we, that quick service means a quicker turnover of tables and customers, which is of course good for business. This establishment maintains that tradition of courteous efficiency. An extensive menu, complete with photos of most dishes, arrived swiftly as did our drinks (2 x bottles of Tsingtao beer and a cola). We opted for the Peking Complete Menu for 3 people (cost €22 per person). This consisted of wan ton soup (starter), followed by generous servings of: Dry fried spareribs, crispy peking duck / Peking chili pork / sweet & sour chicken / mandarin beef / mixed vegetables and a goodly-sized bowl of boiled white rice. All three of us enjoyed the food without a doubt. Of note was the chilli pork, which came served with chopped pickled red chillies. The dish has a nice chilli warmth to it, but is in no way overpowering. For a bit more heat, just chew on a piece of chilli. Lekker! To close, the set meal offered the choice of coffee, Chinese flower tea or a scoop of ice cream served with the inevitable slagroom. Total bill for the set meal and four drinks (2 x beer + 2 x cola) = €79,- All in all, a very enjoyable experience and in this reviewer's books, probably the best Chinese food he's had in quite a few years of living in the Netherlands. Thank you.

About the restaurant

"

The Sichuan-kitchen originates from the southwest of China. It is known for its bold flavours partly due to the rich use of garlic, chilli peppers and sichuan peppers. Luckily, also to be enjoyed here in the Netherlands. At China Sichuan Kitchen for example, located on the Zeedijk or the Warmoesstraat. The menu is well priced, the staff is friendly and every dish makes your taste buds tingle - you'd almost loose your whereabouts. Don't worry. You are still in Amsterdam. "
