Food and atmosphere/ambience were great. Table/seating a little uncomfortable but okay. No table service but that's okay. Place was very busy on a market Sunday, but everything ran smoothly.

The Clarendon is a beautiful venue with a lovely beer garden but attending for an evening meal was really disappointing. The menu was very limited and did not match the sample menu on the website. The prices were very expensive; I don’t mind paying extra for food that is high quality and a little more complex than the usual pub fare but the food we received was not up to standard in terms of quality or value. Paying $35 for a main which is composed of a rather dry chicken breast and only accompanied by a small salad was very dissatisfying especially as we were there to celebrate a special occasion. Sadly I would not recommend.

Lovely place and friendly service but food is very hit and miss. The grazing platters were delicious but the other meals in our group were extremely lacking. The roasted pumpkin meal was bland and barely roasted, beetroot burger was super dry, the chips were so awful we asked to return it and were told the kitchen had a shortage of normal chips so had to use this substitute one - good to know but it didn’t change the fact that the chips we paid for were inedible. We had to insist on being given an acceptable substitute as the kids would not eat the chips. Overall we were disappointed with the quality of food.

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at The Clarendon Arms. There was very little service to speak of., and a very limited menu ( not the menu on the website) We weren’t even able to order our steaks the way we liked them cooked. The garden is beautiful but unfortunately our dining experience was sub standard and so we won’t be recommending this venue to our friends.

The menu presented was completely different to that shown on the website . The selection offered was not even good pub food .. very disappointing for my 86th Birthday, was looking forward to filet Mignon. Pre Covid the meals were good , this was our second bad experience ,certainly not coming again and will not recommend to anyone.

Given the time of year I felt that the menu could have had a more Christmas-type I put. The service was poor - no one to the table to ask if everything was all right, or to ask if we needed more drinks. Staff were friendly.

Amazing spot however we were in a very back room and felt forgotten about. Took over 20 minutes before anyone even came in and asked if we wanted drinks then was another 20 minute wait to receive the drinks. 1 guest had to go ask where his meal was after we were nearly finished ours and it finally came up cold. Steak was quite bland and overcooked with very few sides and the service was Very slow throughout

Have been there twice now and on both occasions food that is meant to be cold/room temperature (antipasto platter and open salmon sandwich) was FREEZING! As if had been kept in a fridge that was set way to low almost to freezing! Even the poached egg was unpleasantly cold. Dishes ruined by this. I would not recommend!!

We had our family Christmas lunch on Sunday. Service and food were amazing. My entire family can’t stop raving about the experience. We booked the garden but the weather wasn’t being nice. We got seated in a lovely private room. I’m already excited to come back very soon. Thank you so much for making our Xmas lunch a special one.

Always had great meals in the past, today’s meals were below par unfortunately. My husband had crayfish and prawn roll, very little filling and no garnish. Only very small half basket of chips. Friend’s burger was missing most ingredients as per menu. Meat, lettuce only. Forgot chutney. No other salad ingredients at all!! Coke drink was warm, hadn’t come out of the fridge. Online menu said roast pork for lunch on Sunday’s, no roast pork available today. Either put it on menu and serve it, or update website. Also disappointed in slow cooked lamb flatbread. Will talk to friends about our disappointing experience today, the opposite of previous visits!

The wait staff were lovely, friendly but perhaps under trained, except for 1, who seemed run off her feet. Yes, blame covid and staff shortages, but "On the job training" on one of the busiest days of the year (market and music festival) seemed a strange choice. It is the customer who gets bad service and still pays top price for poor service. It is not the staff's fault! We virtually helped ourselves for every course of food and drink. Going up 4 times to ask for our unacceptably delayed orders. first for pre dinner drinks, twice for 2nd drink which the bar person, who had no customers at the bar first time, said he would bring straigh out. He didn't. However 10 mins later it was sitting on the bar, still in bottle when I went back 2nd time, still no customers at bar. Then once more to ask for food which was at around an hour after ordered. The food, when it arrived was good enough. My husbands pie was steaming hot and my lamb (deconstructed yiros) was luke warm. Funny how food comes out minutes after asking where it is! Then the lovely waitress came out with our food (again) when we were half way through what we had already been given. At this stage I should have asked if the yiros was hotter than the one I had half eaten and swaped.

Hi the actual place is fabulous. Very cosy. Service was a bit slow and the chips were quite soggy and just warm. Overall experience was good but not great. I think your service side let you down. Need to be more vigilant with the client. Be a little more present. We had a nice afternoon though.

We were really looking forward to the drive up from Hobart on a busy market day in the village, unfortunately the CA wasn't quite up to task, I felt the efforts put into their locale was not matched by some very poor quality food. My meal was stone cold, small(!) and overpriced for what it was. We booked ahead and were given a poor table upstairs and away from the atmosphere they'd done well to create. I'm sure on another day it would have been passable, but today it was well below our expectations and compared to their competition across the state. IMO the Service was below average and we waited for a long time for drinks and service - so when a meal comes out cold and not to the expectations I feel well within my voice to call it out. $25 for a cold and TINY hotdog with a handful of cold chips was laughable. Pick your act up guys, a captive audience in a small location only goes so far. I will definitely give you another shot as one experience doesn't make a summer.

The Clarendon Arms has a well known reputation. The choice of dishes are not standard pub fare with a variety to appeal to wide-ranging tastes. The atmosphere is real English country pub style - it dating back to the 1840’s - old by Tasmanian standards and it’s done well. The newly furnished upper floor had great ambience and style. Have eaten there previously in the large pleasant outdoor area. The wine/beer list has thoughtfully been put together showcasing some of the best and favourites of what Tasmania has to offer. Some of the staff were obviously new or in training but were willing and pleasant. All in all a positive dining experience and would highly recommend.
