Recommended by a Parisian friend. We had a lovely meal here. There were a lot of English spoken guests that came in and out while we ate our meal; but don’t let that put you off. The food was lovely, we had foie gras starters, foie gras/duck and pigeon mains. The staff were very well spoken in English plus gave us great service. It’s a small place so be advised to book in advance.
As someone who has been to the Clown Bar a number of times, this experience was truly the most disappointing and made me reconsider wanting to go again. Either the restaurant is under new ownership or the departure of the previous chef has impacted the service significantly. For the prices of the dishes, I cannot justify the quality of the service. We waited a good 45 minutes between our first and second course, and a good 30 minutes for a dessert (a sorbet albeit). At no moment (until the very end), were we checked in on or were apologies extended to our group. This may be an exception in what is in a otherwise exceptional track record, but needless to say I was super sad and will not be returning any time soon or recommending. Alas!
Better than expectations! There’s no way to describe how great this dinner was.
The menu was creative. The food was good but given all of the hype and reviews on the many restaurant and travel sites we expected more.
Excellent service and outstanding food. Very memorable. Merci!
The food and wine was tremendous at clown bar. The service was top notch and the staff really knows their wine list quite well. Highly recommended and will certainly return.
The food was very good and the wine list had lots of natural wine choices. Seating a bit cramped but overall a very positive experience. Only hiccup paying the bill by splitting credit cards. Not the end of the world...
Declious starters. Monkfish entree was so-so, but the dessert was amazing. Very friendly service. Would definitely return
Service was slow and forgot items ordered. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the money or the hype when there are many other better restaurants in Paris.
Loved the pidgeon and cod tempuras and lotte entree Creative, soulful, and tasteful
They barely checked on us and tried to overcharge for drinks that we did not order.
The food and service was top notch but the wine list might be the best part. Obscure producers of some unheard of wines.
I meant it to be 10/10
This was the best meal we had in Paris. The whitefish tempura was amazing. The burrata and radicchio were great and the duck dish was incredibly delicious. We have one more night in Paris ( tomorrow) and we’re considering just coming back for anything we didn’t try and more of what we loved the first time.
Food was excellent and inspired. , sommelier and wine list were very good. Would highly recommend. The veal brains were honestly mind blowing.
Sat down and was immediately asked to order... the menu was very one note (several raw meats, only three entree options) and we decided not to order beyond a burrata, which was admittedly delicious. When we asked for the check, the waiter had the nerve to tell us this was a “Res-raurant” and that we should not sit down for one drink and a starter... we restrained ourselves from telling him the menu was uninspired. We noticed the couple to our left was also struggling to find enough to order. Very disappointed, on the whole.
Overall very well balanced plates and interesting combinations. The duck pithivier was really very well executed: perfectly cooked and the jus very lean and tasty. Very good and interesting wine list.
Such a gem!
The beautiful room has been ruined, despite keeping the clown tiles. It's like a Soviet prison cafeteria. It took over 90 minutes for two courses, and my monkfish was leathery and flavourless. The people next to us abandoned their dinner after the starter because they'd been waiting an hour. Staff were nice, but this place was dreadful. We'll never go back.
