Pittwater RSL have in the last 2 weeks reopened their Glasshouse restaurant as the reserved section of the Club House Bistro. Unless you enjoy carrying your food nearly 100m from the Bistro back to your table past the sports bar, entrance stairs, auditorium and toilets to your table and on your journey dodge kids running around and people coughing without masks I would advise not reserving a table and just turn up where you will be seated 2-3m from the food collection point.
Atmosphere not as good as usual due to covid restrictions but service was great. Food was good but some dishes were squeezed onto plates that were too small.
All was good but the food was a bit disappointing. I had salmon and it was a very small portion. My wife had eye of the fillet and, while cooked correctly, it wasn't as tender as that cut of meat should be. It tasted more like a rump steak and may have been? We used to enjoy your food at "The Glass House" and have tried your new Bistro twice with mediocre results.
Excellent service!! Delicious food.
Food good but where you eat is like a cafe. Why they can’t open their Glasshouse restaurant is beyond me
Cheap & Cheerful Monkey Bun Burgers good, Pizza & Salmon average
Tables not cleared or cleaned for next patrons, No COVID distancing when waiting in line to order meals. We had a reservation and didn't anticipate bistro style ordering. Staff appeared overworked. Food was OK. Coffee machine switched off before 8 pm so couldn't have after meal coffee. Wont hurry back!
We had reserved a table as there were 5 of us dining in & we were very pleased with the location. Hand sanitiser provided on every table & at all ordering counters. Food was good as usual & generous servings. We'll be back.
My meat was excellent but the side dishes , especially onion rings were not good.
Always dependable in all ways
Very limited menu, I was told there is no kids menu which is unheard of and I had to order my 18 month old a $20 schnitzel which was about the only good thing on the menu. With only one restaurant to choose from I would expect it to be a lot better. The pie was not great and the meat was red and undercooked so I couldn’t eat due to being pregnant. The sausages had to be taken back as they were so undercooked. I used to go to Pittwater RSL each weekend at least once but until something changes I won’t be going again unfortunately. I’m all for supporting local business during this tough time but I don’t want to throw away money on really below par food, and I was embarrassed to bring others there. Such a shame!!
Enjoyed our meals. Felt very comfortable with Covid safety precautions being used. Very relaxed atmosphere & glad not to be rushed out. Will return, great local venue.
Doing a great job at tough time
My husband I have eaten in the restaurant 4 times and each time the meal has been warm or cold and each time I have sent it back to be reheated. The quality of the food is good small portions but what we have had has been good, they just need to be able to serve a hot meal. We will give the restaurant one more chance and if the meal is cold again we will not be eating there again and further more we will tell our friends the experience we have had.. Kind regards Pamela Stroem-Hansen
Our party of five really enjoyed our meals. A little upset that the Atlantic Salmon was not available, although the fish and chips was really nice. I will be making another booking for Tuesday 7 July. Thank you for getting us back to our enjoyable club
I felt like I was on a school camp again having dinner on a cheap fold out table that was dirty! The food was disappointing as not everything was on the plate as to what it explained on the menu the dish included. Had a coke with dinner that came with lipstick on it (not what you want to see while there is still corona virus going around). I wouldn’t be rushing back there any time soon.
We have eaten at the Glasshouse Restaurant many times in the past but this was the first time we tried the Bistro. We will not go back! The portions were tiny, the fries were overcooked and tasted like they had been cooked hours before and then reheated, the medium to well done eye fillet ordered was definitely on the medium side. This was such a disappointment!!!
Food was well priced and plenty of choice on the menu but it was very average (just like pub food). My chips were cold and had to be sent back, definitely wouldn’t race back!
There was no gluten free dessert item on blackboard but we asked and was told pavlova was an option. Two of us had ordered it and both thought it was the best we had ever had. Thank you for going the extra step very much appreciated.
I phoned to reserve a table for lunch but was told bookings can’t be done over the phone and can only be done online. This was inconvenient to have to spend a lot of time working this out on the Internet. On the day when we arrived at the dining area there was no one to greet patrons, everyone is left on their own to find their reserved table by walking all around the dining area or have their reserved table taken by anyone that walks in. Then we found we couldn’t order at the restaurant counter, which one would think was the logical thing to do when I went there and was told I had to queue up at the bar to order the meal. There is no notice that I could see to inform of this. We then found out when ordering the meals we couldn’t use the voucher for a free coffee or free dessert I got in our letterbox. This is clearly written on the card saying we were entitled to this ‘With every meal purchase’ which is only applicable Monday and Tuesday and we were there for lunch on a Tuesday. The reason given on the day was that the voucher cannot be used if we use the two for one meal deal on the day. This is not revealed on the card. After the portable buzzer sounded I went to the meals pick up counter. The 2 plates for our main meal were on the counter and presented to me by a kitchen attendant. I had to pick them up and carry them back to our table. They were so hot they almost burnt my hands carrying them. The kitchen person at the counter didn’t warn me that they might be hot. The staff person also wasn’t friendly at all when picking up either the entrée or the main meals at the counter. They didn’t say hope you enjoy your lunch etc, they were basically silent. The meals were surprisingly small for the cost of them. Not sure if the meals size is deliberately reduced as we had a 2 for 1 deal which of course has to be revealed up front when ordering, possibly this is the case. My partners meal had terrible tasting mash potatoes and the olive green colour peas were horrible and seemed like they were days old and she could not eat either of these. We were disappointed with the whole experience particularly as it was a special occasion being my 63rd birthday that day and lunch was to celebrate it. Also really annoying is the amount of emails I kept getting after doing the online booking. In 4 days I got 6 emails with subject line such as ‘Verify your confirmed booking (this title alone doesn’t make sense), Confirmation of your booked table (both emails on the day of booking online), then 2 days later an email ‘Verify your upcoming reservation’ (doesn’t make sense as a previous email had already verified this), then on the day of the lunch 3 more emails, first one at 9.06am ‘Reminder for the table we had booked’, second one only 18 minutes after the 12 noon booking where we were having a pre lunch drink at the table and looking at the menu, not ordered anything yet and the email asking ‘Did I love the dining experience or was I disappointed, and this is only 18 minutes after sitting down at the table and the final email at 4pm on that day again asking me ‘How was my experience’. All of these annoying emails were as a result of not being able to simply book over the phone like the old days and having to do it online and supply an email address. Also annoying was in 3 of the emails I kept being encouraged to download the Fork APP onto my phone to receive 1000 Yums: $20 discount. If I had done this it would no doubt then have led to many more annoying SMS messages as well. No we did not like the whole experience at all.
