Dans le Noir more than dinner, it's an experience. Since is a surprise menu, they have the challenge to prepare dishes that will suite everybody's taste. On the other hand, because you are not seen what you are eating, you are not predisposed to the flavor that you would expect if you would know what you are eating. We went for 3 steps menu paired with 3 glasses of wine. Every dish included 3 different preparations. In general, I liked the food, some bites are tastier than others, but all in all good.

The original concept was something that intrigued us. We were disappointed in the lack of translation to English as most people were Spanish. The food was mediocre and not anything like pictured on the website. All and all, the experience was cool but lacked in food quality. There was really no ambiance to speak of. Glad we experienced it, but we would not repeat this.

Hello Karen, thank you for your feedback, it's important for us to know every detail we can improve. As our restaurant is located in Madrid, our staff speaks mostly spanish, even if we can provide a service in english and french. We are surprised of you comment about the translation as all our staff introduced you the concept and debriefed with you in English. Your blind waitress made her best to give you the greatest service posible, taking into account that everyone haven't the same opportunity to learn other languages perfectly. About the menu, we sorry that you didn't enjoyed it. As our menu is surprise we know that we can't convince everyone. Our concept is about get rid of prejudices caused by seeing, we show the picture of our new menu after the experience, not on the website (it would ruined the surprise). Besides, our website is international and included also pictures of other restaurants Dans le Noir ? in the world. Thanks again for your sincere opinion, kind regards from all the team

Really interesting experience! Something you can't really fully imagine until you experience it. We enjoyed ourselves and we will be back. Our only complaint was how long we waited between meals/drinks. from when our entree was taken to when our dessert was served took so long, we thought our server forgot about us... I would say that was the thing that needs to be paid most attention to. Otherwise really cool experience!

We apologize that the delay between drinks and courses seemed long to you. However you passed the usual time in the dining room... Being in the dark, without mobile phones or watches, make that we don't perceive time the same way. We are pretty sure the the waiter didn't forgot you. Nevertheless we will not hesitate to check the facts, and invite you to take advantage of this time to share anecdotes with your server guides, who are always happy to answer your questions. Our waiter Sam was one of the nicest waiter there was. He gave us great insights to our questions around blindness and about his past. Being in the complete dark puts you in the same playing field and suddenly it’s as if you were taking to a friend at night! The experience was wonderful and the service was exceptional, we would recommend everyone to go there.

I felt very grateful to have the opportunity to experience such a unique dining experience. We were so surprised to discover that we were wrong about some things that we ate and drank. It was also enlightening to depend on our other senses and to use methods in total darkness to drink, pour, eat and communicate. The highlight was meeting Sam, our server, who led us through our evening and served our meal with perfection. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Something everyone should experience. I think it would be interesting to come here on a first date! But equally as fun to come with a big group of friends. I dined with my boyfriend for his 30th Birthday and they made him feel special. The waiter (Sam) was so attentive and kind. We enjoyed speaking with him and getting to know him. The waiters are blind and it's incredible how they serve the food and wine and dine you. The room is pitch black. Even with eyes open you can't see a thing! I think it was a bit disappointing with the surprise wine we were given as it wasn't a mix of red and white glasses but two glasses of red from the same bodega. The food was nice and the pork was the most succulent I've tasted. But I think some of the other dishes were a bit bland. (the lettuce was very watery) but overall we had a wonderful night!

We are also happy to know that you enjoyed the food. A completely dark tasting can mislead a lot; most of our visitors confond meet and fish or red and white wine. That's why we try to play with flavors, textures, smells but also with colors. We don't choose the wines only for their colors but also for the game they offer for a blind suprise tasting. We feel sad about your comment revealed some of our surprise elements... However, we change the menu each season and we also frequently change the wine. Although the food was maybe a 4/5 instead of a 5/5, the service and experience were SO SPECIAL that this place deserves a 10/10 review. The waiters are incredible, all so caring and kind. It's a very profound and unique experience, definitely worth doing!

The experience is worth it and that’s what you pay for. It’s incredible to eat in the dark and try to discover what you are eating. The food wasn’t any special except for maybe a couple of recipes but it’s a must try experience.

With the famous "Surprise Menus" that change every three months « Dans le Noir ? » offers you a unique and sensory experience. Our chefs work only with fresh products mostly prepared and cooked the same day in order to maintain the flavor. This is a different way of cooking, specifically prepared and though for the dark, in other words, totally different from a usual menu in the common life. However, we are happy to know that the experience itself worth it to you, we hope you enjoy sharing with your blind-guide, because as we always say, this is the most important part to us. My daughter and I are from America,, in Madrid for a few days to visit for the first time. We wanted to go to a dans Le Noir and just our luck there was one here in Madrid. We had a great experience. The welcome was sincere and thoughtful- my daughter has food allergies and they were amazing about talking with her about her food parameters. Jordan our server/ host was exceptional. And the owners are just fantastic. I would go again... and next time in a city where we could follow along in the conversation in the dark. Excellent place. I recommend!!
