In the stable bar, in the middle of the stately horse boxes, you get a drink, an aperitif before you will be pampered culinary in the restaurant. Restaurant "De Oorsprong" is part of hotel "De Oorsprong" and is situated in the heritage main building (from the 19th century) of the complex. The restaurant caters for the hotel guests and outside customers as well. We enjoyed a three course dinner as part of a combined stay and dinner deal at "De Oorsprong". We found a quiet table in a secluded spot in the restaurant area. The service of the staff was polite, friendly and dedicated; far better than the unpolished service you sometimes get from Dutch restaurant staff. A pleasant surprise was the offer of draught Warsteiner beer. Overall the three course dinner was well prepared and tasty, with as highlight the main course of salmon, which was positively delicious. One piece of criticism on the starter, carpaccio. The beef was not as tender as I am accustomed to, even a bit chewy. Furthermore, too much rocket was added to the dish, but that's a mistake, usually made by Dutch chefs. The dessert (chef's surprise) was a success, but the espresso was again tasteless; obviously nobody in Dutch restaurants can prepare good Italian espresso. However the good rating is well earned.
