Was really disappointed as I was served raw chicken that was bright pink and Bleeding. Was immediately shown to waiter which were kind and apologetic to remove off our bill. To be honest we lost our appetite and couldn’t finish our other meals and walked out unhappy. Staff were nice though it’s not their fault

Not as good as I remember. The crumbed chicken was chewy and lacking flavour. The robots are a nice gimmick but give me attentive staff who give off good vibes any day.

Disappointing. Crispy chicken fillet was not crispy. Dumpling pot stickers were quite hard, Spicy prawn wontons were cold. At least the xiao long baos were ok. Maybe they had a bad day. Such a shame because they used to be so good.

My partner had been raving about this restaurant from her last visit to Sydney, and when we heard one was opening in Melbourne we had to go and check it out during our travels. The food is amazing, excellent vibe and atmosphere, and the service robots gave us a good chuckle. We decided to go there again before we flew back home!

What a shocker. Robot maitre d to show you to the table. Ordering via tablet is very convenient and food arrives quickly. Some dishes are not freshly prepared, such as the Xiaolongbao, which arrived lukewarm to the table. It isn’t expensive, but despite the low price, it still disappointed.

I ordered a lava bun but it does not taste fresh. It taste like it’s from the frozen package. The portion of food is ok.

Great little restaurant; very busy on a Monday lunchtime. Directions are a bit questionable as there appears to be two entrances and our group all found it difficult to find. Certainly one to go back to.. the quirky little robot servers probably;y need a bit of work as they tend to sit between tables but nice addition.

I took Miss 9 on a special dinner with the thought we would be served by Robots as advertised. We were left extremely disappointed watching the robots take meals to other tables but not ours. I asked after our entrees arrive if we needed to book a different table for robot service but was told no as long as you order a main or rice dish the robot will serve it. We ordered rice and a main and still no robot for us, human service every time.

The pork chop is salty and very dry. The soup of noodle soup is not good enough. The fried rice is good. Thanks the waiter for sweeping the floor after the guests leave.

Food quality dropped dramatically. The bun is not hot and taste is not good as before.the service is not prompt. A lot of food has been taken off the menu. Not worth to try!

Food was good as usual. Loved the xiao long bao, prawn mayo and fried rice. Unfortunately the chicken cutlet was a little oily - more than usual, and that caused the skin to be abit soggy.

We've been wanting to eat at Din Tai Fung for ages and were not disappointed! The service was fast, even on a busy Sunday at lunchtime, and the staff were all polite and efficient. The cute robot servers were a fantastic novelty the kids loved. We tried a variety of dishes and were happy with everything, especially the bao buns. We'll definitely visit again.

Hands down the best Xiao Long Bao ive had in Australia. The truffle dumpling was divine - very very impressed with the food here. Highly recommended and will be back soon.

About the restaurant

Dumpling destination

The Emporium is so hot right now - especially with Din Tai Fung in the building. That's right. dumpling devotees gather round because the renowned dumpling house has set up comfortably on the fourth floor of the popular shopping centre, accommodating 235 die-hard dumpling fans in the large venue. How many folds does the signature xiao long bao soup dumpling have? 1, 2, 3, 4? Wrong. There are 18 folds in this bad boy, each one folded with mathematical precision. It's a work of art, not simply a dumpring. Bring your friends and family and get ready for a full on feast. Din Tai Fung dumpling style.

Best dish: xiao long bao soup dumpling
