Excellent
My daughter (13) and I are staying in a hotel around the corner. It was our last night in Rome - and didn’t want to travel too far. After a quick bit of research- found reviews of Disco Volante - so decided to book a table. Was very glad I did. The food was amazing, my daughter had spaghetti and vine cherry tomatoes- she says it’s the best tasting pasta dish she has ever had! I couldn’t disagree. It was lovely. She is a bit of a fuss pot, so I opted for a 4 cheese pizza incase she didn’t like her pasta and we could swap. The pizza, similarly to the pasta was delicious! I tried to get her to eat some prosciutto and melon for starters - but she was having none of it lol, but just stuck to the melon. Which was great as more prosciutto for me!! Lovely food, great setting, without costing the Earth. highly recommended.
We searched Trip Advisor to find a restaurant near our hotel with good reviews but not so pricey. We liked the sound of this place and booked online for our group of 4. All good. We arrived on time and the place was pretty empty. We were shown to a nice table but set for 5 - no bother. The waited came promptly with the menus but was going at 100 miles an hour! He spoke very very quickly and demanded “what you want we got pizza pasta meat - what you want?” ...we smiled and said we would take a few minutes to look at the menu... to which the waiter remarked “what you come to restaurant to eat but you don’t know what you want!” He wasn’t being humorous. We had to insist we would look at the menus before we ordered. So we ordered some drinks and that was fine. The waiter came back almost straight away and my sister hadn’t decided which we indicated ...so he asked what the rest of us wanted and so we made our choices rather hurriedly them the waited left the table. He came back about 10 mins later and took my sister’s order. When the food arrived it was a little disappointing and bore little resemblance to the images conjured by the menu. It was okay but not the best. We finished our mains and by this time the place was filling up. We waited for a dessert menu. And waited. And waited. Eventually we asked. The waiter brought over two dessert Fischer’s and recommended them. My partner asked for the fresh fruit with gelato and was told “mmm we might not have enough as we have a large group over there and so we might run out so no we better save it for them so no we don’t have it”! Unbelievable! He was offered four gelato flavours to choose from - vanilla, chocolate, walnut, or alternatively lemon sorbet, or a mixture of gelato. He opted for a mixture of gelato. What did he get? Two scoops of vanilla, one of chocolate, and one of apple sorbet. So all in all the food was mediocre but the services was terrible. Sadly I’d say AVOID this place. If the food was just that little bit more in keeping with the description on the menu and the service was 100% better this place could be nice. But do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.
Food was good. Typical fare that you’ll find at most restaurants. The Carbonara had good flavor. Prices were not outrageous but organization was lacking. Dishes came out at different times, and an antipasto that we ordered never came. We weren’t charged for it, so it wasn’t a huge deal at the end because the pasta portions are actually quite large and filling.
This place was amazing, the ravioli with walnut gorgonzola cream sauce was fantastic and the zucchini flower appatizer too. Amazing prices food and service, will definitely try to go back, highly recommend.
Good enough nothing special
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. Food and customers were so very kind and the food was wonderful! The owners go out of their way to make you feel comfortable! Wonderful experience!
Again easy to book online & easy to find. A warm welcome and our waiter Antonio was very helpful and friendly. The food was homemade and tasteful. I would highly recommend.
Everything was fantastic. The food was delicious. Perfect service. We spent a lovely evening.
Excellent food, nice place. Prices were okay considering it was New Year's Eve. However, I did have some difficulties asking questions about the menu (I'm not Italian and I don't speak the language either): to sum it all up, I was too afraid to ask any more questions. LOL
The food as normal was good, the waiter was rude, berating for not having wine with the main dish did not stay for seconds or gelati. Last time we took 8 of our friends but they just lost us ever going back. Obviously you can't have a medical condition at this restaurant or make your own choices.
We had a most wonderful evening with delicious meals at the "Disco volunte". I recommend the restaurant to everybody, especially those who live in the area. Don't go to the tourist places, stay where you are. The food is much better and the price is convenient.
