About the restaurant Eetcafe De Zwarte Ruiter op 't Witte Paart

Owner Gerritsen did not ponder too long on the name of his cozy diner. The front of the diner is embelished with a plaque of a black knight on a white horse; and thus the name of the diner was established. At the inside, everything makes equal sense. The menu offers a choice of the usual suspects such as steak and satay, and daily dishes are served from monday through thursday. There is also a wide selection of beers on offer.

The owner was extremely attentive. We ate there twice because we enjoyed the first night so much. The second night was a Saturday and much busier but the service and food were still good. We had meat on the first night and fish on the second. Both meals were excellent. The cafe/bar sells a good selection of good beers so we bought wine only by the glass to go with our fish. The environment isn't terribly fancy but it is a historic building and there is nothing to complain about. Highly recommended.

Cosy but restless athmosphere. Starter was tapas for 2.
It was almost only meat and some fish, all cold.
We expected something else and not so much slices of meat. The taste was good but it was just too bourgondic for us.
Main course came way too fast and was the fish duo. Very nice made up plate and tasted really good.
The dessert was a mini grand dessert. It was huge...nothing mini in it. Tasted very nice but just way too much.
Coffee was not very good and served with a typical Dutch Advocaat with cream...we didnt take it.
Al together is our conclusion that the menu is not balanced and its too bourgondic. The service is too fast which makes it impossible to make it a nice evening out, although they were really very friendly.
