About the restaurant El Barril de las Letras

"El Barril is a classic, one of the most prestigious restaurants in Madrid in the Salamanca district. Now if you like its excellent product and love to get out of the center of the city, you have a new option with the same quality: El Barril de Las Letras.

Taking its name from the neighborhood in which it is located, El Barril de Las Letras is a modern venue, decorated with a vintage style where white predominates. In addition to its trademark prestige, is the menu in which quality fish and seafood prevail.

Venture to try a Denia red prawn, monkfish with black tripe, or the creamy rice pudding... you will be left fascinated and eager to go back, not to mention the charm of your environment. Reserve your table!"

Very nice place, not touristic, not the cheapest place to dine, but anyway very reasonable and worth it! Very good and friendly service, the best we could find in Madrid during our 4-days-stay!! We'll recommend it to our friends!!

Very busy restaurant, so be sure to reserve a table beforehand! Atmosphere is quite lively and noisy, which I personally enjoyed. Food was fantastic (salad, boquerones and two fish dishes). It was on the expensive side (60 euros pp), but we also had dessert and a bottle of wine.

A trendy restaurant in a nice neighbourhood of Madrid. The food was nice but the waiter made many mistakes. One starter had to be changed because they brought the wrong dish. Ordered a bottle of wine and instead they brought one glas. In the end it was ok but it could be much better.

Wonderful food. Sole was great. Green salad with fruit and touch of salt was delightful. Others had filet with mushrooms and duck confit..both very enjoyable dishes. Good wines and very relaxed but attentive service. Looked up and we had spent 2 and 1/2 very enjoyable hours as family

Loved it: an impressive menu combining classics and local specialties; excellent quality; efficient service; the maitre d' (or head waiter, oe whatever this role is called in Spain) was perfect. Recommend booking in advance.

We enjoyed well-prepared green salad, octopus, turbot, and grilled asparagus, plus a delicious and economical wine suggested by our competent and responsive server. A very enjoyable meal!
